The sika deer (Cervus nippon), kent as the spattit deer or the Japanese deer an aw, is a species o deer hamelt in the muckle feck o East Aisie, an introducit tae various ither pairts o the warld. Previously foond frae northren Vietnam in the sooth tae the Roushien Far East in the north,[1] it is nou uncommon in these airts, excludin Japan, whaur the species is owerabundant.[2] Its name comes frae shika (鹿), the Japanee wird for "deer".
