Peter Bogdanovich (July 30, 1939 – January 6, 2022) was an American movie director, writer, movie producer, screenwriter, critic, actor, and historian. He was known for his movies The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, Mask, They All Laughed, What's Up, Doc?, and Texasville.

He won a BAFTA Award for writing the screenplay of The Last Picture Show in 1971. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for his work on the same movie in 1971. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1973 for Paper Moon.

Bogdanovich was born in Kingston, New York.[1] He studied at the Collegiate School and Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

Bogdanovich was married to producer Polly Platt from 1962 until their divorce in 1978. From 1988 until 2001, he was married to Louise Stratten. He was in a relationship with actress Cybill Shepherd between 1971 until 1978. In 1980, he was in a relationship with model Dorothy Stratten.

Bogdanovich died on January 6, 2022 in Los Angeles, California from problems caused by Parkinson's disease at the age of 82.[2][3]
