Selena Quintanilla-Perez was a Grammy Award winning Mexican-American pop singer[1][2]. In the early 1990s, Selena was the international "Queen of Tejano Music"[3]. In 1992, Selena's album Entre A Mi Mundo which contained Selena's signature song "Como La Flor" was certified 6X Platinum by the RIAA[4]. In 1994, Selena's album Amor Prohibido became Latin's best selling album of all time. The album itself released eight out of ten singles, some of which were on Billboard[5]. Amor Prohibido was certified as Multi Platinum by the RIAA[6]. Soon after the popular rise of Selena's albums, EMI Latin and SBK Records began preparing Selena for her very first major English album. On February 24, 1995, Selena played at a sell out concert at the Houston Astrodome[7]. Sadly the 23-year-old singer was tragiclly killed by her friend and president of the Selena Fan Club on March 31, 1995[8]. The Latino world was horrified that their queen was killed[8]. Candle light vigils were given in Selena's honor[8]. Millions of fans showed up at Selena's house and Selena's store "Selena Etc."[8]. Selena's funeral drew over 60,000 mourners. Selena became an icon due to her tragic death[8]. In 1997, Jennifer Lopez reminded the world's lost; as she played "Selena" in the blockbuster movie about the young singer's life[9].
