SPEC ACCEL®

The SPEC ACCEL® benchmark suite tests performance with computationally intensive parallel applications running under the OpenCL, OpenACC, and OpenMP 4 target offloading APIs. The suite exercises the performance of the accelerator, host CPU, memory transfer between host and accelerator, support libraries and drivers, and compilers.

August 1, 2019: An incremental update to V1.3 of the SPEC ACCEL® benchmark has been released. This update includes minor bug fixes to the OpenMP and OpenCL suites. Existing licensees of previous versions of the benchmark are entitled to a complimentary upgrade to version 1.3. Please contact SPEC Headquarters for assistance. Results generated with V1.3 are comparable to results from V1.2. Starting with the submission and review cycle beginning on October 9, 2019, all submissions must be made using V1.3.

June 21, 2017: SPEC HPG announces an update to the SPEC ACCEL® benchmark. The V1.2 update includes a new suite using OpenMP 4 target directives, bug fixes, improved documentation and PTDaemon 1.8.1 and is available as of June 21, 2017. Existing licensees of the SPEC ACCEL benchmark Version 1.0 and V1.1 are entitled to a complimentary upgrade to Version 1.2. Please contact SPEC Headquarters for assistance. As of July 19, 2017, all submissions must be made using V1.2. Please note that results for the OpenACC suite from version 1.2 cannot be compared to results using version 1.1 or 1.0.

Benchmark tests

The benchmark suite contains 19 application benchmarks running under OpenCL, 15 under OpenACC and 15 using OpenMP 4 target offloading. The OpenCL suite is derived from the well-respected Parboil benchmark from the IMPACT Research Group of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Rodinia benchmark from the University of Virginia. The OpenACC and OpenMP suites include from NAS Parallel Benchmarks (NPB), SPEC OMP® 2012, and others derived from high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
