With a fervent dedication to social justice and youth empowerment, I am committed to creating a world where every individual, especially adolescents, girls, and young women (AGYW), can thrive and exercise their rights. My journey as an advocate has been shaped by a relentless pursuit of gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and the eradication of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

As an outspoken young African woman, I have leveraged my voice and platform to challenge systemic injustices and advocate for meaningful change. My work is rooted in the principles of intergenerational co-leadership, fostering inclusive spaces that amplify the contributions of young leaders. I believe in the transformative power of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging (DEIAB), and I strive to ensure that these values are at the forefront of all initiatives I engage in.

My advocacy extends to the global stage, where I have been actively involved in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various platforms and partnerships. I am passionate about intersectionality and its critical role in understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities.

As an author, my work encompasses a wide range of topics, from feminist theory and SRHR to gender equality and intersectionality. My articles, poems, and abstracts are a testament to my commitment to these issues, and I continuously seek new avenues to share my insights and experiences. I am proud to publish my research papers and abstracts on Academia.edu, contributing to the global discourse on these vital topics.

Advancing AGYW Health in Kenya: Leveraging Data Utilization for Reproductive Health

This paper explores the role of data-driven interventions in enhancing reproductive health outcom... more This paper explores the role of data-driven interventions in enhancing reproductive health outcomes for AGYW in Kenya. It discusses the importance of effective data utilization in addressing high rates of teenage pregnancies and HIV infections among AGYW, as evidenced by the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) 2022. Case studies from Kisumu County and Nairobi illustrate how mobile health data and DHIS2 have significantly improved contraceptive use and reduced HIV incidence rates. Introduction: Reproductive health is vital for AGYW in Kenya, who face disproportionately high rates of teenage pregnancies and HIV infections. This paper examines how data-driven strategies can bridge gaps in service delivery and improve health outcomes. Methods: Digital health interventions, such as DHIS2 and mobile health data analytics, were implemented to track and enhance reproductive health services for AGYW. Case studies from Kisumu County and Nairobi provide empirical evidence of the impact of these interventions. Results: Evidence from Kisumu County and Nairobi demonstrates a 25% increase in contraceptive use and a 30% reduction in HIV incidence among AGYW. Real-time data dashboards in Nairobi also contributed to a 35% increase in service uptake and a 20% reduction in teenage pregnancies within a year. Discussion: This session aligns with global principles such as the Principles for Digital Development and SDGs, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). It showcases innovative data applications that can be replicated globally to enhance AGYW health outcomes. Conclusion: Data-driven interventions have proven effective in addressing reproductive health challenges among AGYW in Kenya. The success of these strategies underscores the importance of integrating data analytics into public health initiatives to achieve sustainable health improvements.

Equitable access to SRHR: Enhancing well-being for marginalized adolescent girls and young women in Kenya and Africa

In many rural areas of Kenya and across Africa, access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Righ... more In many rural areas of Kenya and across Africa, access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) remains a significant challenge, particularly for marginalized adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). These challenges are multifaceted, encompassing socioeconomic , cultural, and infrastructural barriers. This study investigates these barriers comprehensively and evaluates targeted strategies to improve SRHR equity, aiming to enhance overall well-being and reduce health-related poverty in these communities. This research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques to ensure a holistic understanding of the issues. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from January to March 2024, involving 500 AGYW participants from three rural communities in Kenya. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with 30 healthcare providers, community leaders, and policymakers to gather diverse perspectives on SRHR access. Data analysis included descriptive statistics for the quantitative data and thematic analysis for the qualitative data, providing both breadth and depth in understanding the SRHR landscape. Findings revealed that 70% of AGYW reported significant barriers to accessing SRHR services, including financial constraints, long distances to healthcare facilities, and the lack of youth-friendly services. Cultural stigmas and a lack of education on SRHR also emerged as significant obstacles. However, in communities where targeted health interventions were implemented, such as mobile clinics and youth-led health committees, there was a notable 45% increase in SRHR utilization. These interventions not only improved health outcomes among AGYW but also fostered greater community awareness and support for SRHR issues. Addressing SRHR inequities for AGYW in Kenya and Africa requires a multifaceted approach. Effective strategies include financial support programs, infrastructural developments like mobile health units, and the implementation of youth-friendly policies and educational campaigns. The study underscores the critical importance of community-based health initiatives in enhancing access and improving health outcomes for AGYW. These initiatives demonstrate that equitable SRHR services are essential for fostering thriving communities and reducing health-related poverty among marginalized AGYW.

These issues contribute to high rates of maternal mortality, unintended pregnancies, and gender-based violence. The primary objective of this intervention is to improve SRHR outcomes and promote gender equality through community-led initiatives specifically tailored for AGYWs.
