This research aims to explore secondary school students' views regarding basic democratic values ... more This research aims to explore secondary school students' views regarding basic democratic values in terms of several variables. The research has utilized the cross-sectional survey model, which is one of the descriptive survey models. The population of the research consists of secondary school students studying at schools located within the province of Elazig. The research sample holds a total of 440 secondary school students studying at secondary schools located within the province of Elazig during 2016-2017 academic year. The participants have been selected by stratified sampling method. This research has deployed personal information form and basic democratic values as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) have been used during data analysis. Research results have suggested that secondary school students have a "high" level of participation regarding basic democratic values scale. While a significant difference has been identified across the dimensions of the basic democratic values in terms of gender, class level, academic achievement and socioeconomic levels of the schools, parents' educational status is free from any significant difference. Based upon the research findings, various recommendations have been provided. Future studies may be conducted on parents' views regarding basic democratic values. Basic democratic values adopted by the students studying at schools with different socioeconomic levels should be sought through observations.

The research has utilized the cross-sectional survey model, which is one of the descriptive survey models. The research sample holds a total of the fourth-grade 383 prospective teachers who study at teacher training programs and who have been selected by simple random sampling method. This research has been collected through personal information form and curriculum literacy scale. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) have been used during data analysis. Research results have revealed that prospective teachers have a "high" level of views regarding curriculum literacy dimensions-reading and writing. No significant difference has been identified across reading and writing dimensions in terms of gender and department. A statistically significant difference has been determined across the dimension of reading in favour of those receiving the course; however, the dimension of writing is free from any significant difference. Based upon the research findings, various recommendations have been provided. Qualitative researches carried out in order to analyze prospective teachers' curriculum literacy in depth will contribute to the relevant literature. Comparative studies that explore teachers' and prospective teachers' curriculum literacy may be conducted.
This research aims to examine the current situation of multicultural education in elementary scho... more This research aims to examine the current situation of multicultural education in elementary schools. Therefore, the views of the classroom teachers on multicultural education have been examined and multicultural education activities have been observed in the classes. Having a case study research method which is considered as one of the qualitative research designs, the study hosts a total of 15 classroom teachers who worked in the province of Elazig during the 2016 and 2017 academic year. The maximum variation sampling method has been used in the research. The research has employed semi-structured interview and observation forms. The research data has been analyzed through content analysis. Research results have revealed that most of the teachers perceive multicultural education as education presented to the individuals with different ethnic identities. Teachers' perceptions towards multicultural education have been identified to be similar in terms of their gender, seniority and educational status. Teachers mostly do student-centred activities related to multicultural education, use drama and case studies in their classes. While practising multicultural education, teachers mostly encounter with student-related problems. The majority of the people have recommended that parents be trained on the relevant subject. Similar results have emerged in the observations made by the researcher. Based on the research findings, several recommendations have been provided. Primary school curricula should be organized taking multicultural education into consideration, and the problems identified by teachers should be eliminated by those concerned.
Epistemological beliefs refer to the systems of the certainty of knowledge, the source of knowled... more Epistemological beliefs refer to the systems of the certainty of knowledge, the source of knowledge, the creation of knowledge by the individuals, the acquisition of knowledge and subjective beliefs about the structure of knowledge. They influence the decisions and choices of a teacher in teaching methods, classroom management, and so on. In this regard, it is of great importance to analyze the epistemological beliefs of prospective teachers in terms of several variables and to present a general framework. The objective of this study is the investigation of the epistemological beliefs of prospective teachers in terms of certain variable. Descriptive survey model was used in this research. 426 prospective teachers participated in the research. Personal Information Form, and "Epistemological Beliefs Scale" were used as data collection tool in this study. Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance analyses methods were used (MANOVA) for the analysis of the data obtained. Following the research, it was observed that the opinions of prospective teachers concerning the Epistemological Beliefs Scale were as " partially I agree ". No significant difference was observed between the Epistemological Beliefs scores of the prospective teachers in terms of gender, however significant difference was observed in terms of their class levels, department and university entrance score type variables. Various recommendations have been developed based upon the findings.

Öğretmenler kazanımların öğrencilerin düzeyine uygun olduğunu, öğrenci merkezli etkinliklerin olduğunu, içeriğin çok iyi düzenlenmediğini ve ölçme-değerlendirme araçları ile ilgili yeterli bilgi verilmediğini belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenlerin bazıları bu dersin dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerine uygun olduğunu düşünürken bazıları uygun olmadığını düşünmektedir. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the tendency to tolerance an... more The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the tendency to tolerance and helpfulness behavior in 4 th grade primary school students. Relational screening model was used in the study. Simple random sampling method was used in the study. 265 students from the 4 th grade of the primary school students have participated to the study. The data in the study were collected by using the scale of tolerance and the scale of helpfulness attitude. Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the data pearson product moments correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of data. As a result, it was found that a medium level significant relationship in the positive direction existed between the tolerance tendency scores and helpfulness attitude scores of fourth grade students, that the value belonging to tolerance displayed a significant relationship with acceptance and empathy sub-dimensions and that all three variables together explained 24% of the helpfulness attitude. This result has also revealed a predictive relationship between students' tendencies towards tolerance and helpfulness attitudes. Based upon the findings, following recommendations have been provided.
The purpose of this research is to reveal the perceptions of the parents related to the tolerance... more The purpose of this research is to reveal the perceptions of the parents related to the tolerance value.The phenomenology design which is one of the qualitative research designs has been used in the research.The research is carried out on 10 parents who live in a province of the Eastern Anatolia Region in the academic year of 2015-2016.Maximum diversity sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods,is used in the research.Data of the research has been gathered by using semi-structured interview form.The content analysis has been used in the analysis of data.Transferability, credibility,verifiability and consistency strategies are used to ensure validity and reliability in the study.In result of the research, it has been seen that most of the female parents perceive tolerance as accepting a person as is.Most male parents perceive tolerance as getting along with people.Most of the parents answered the question of "Why should you be tolerant?" as"To live happily and peacefully. " Most of the parents indicated that there would be fights if they were not tolerant.They stated that they mostly used suggestopedia to make their children tolerant individuals.Most of the parents indicated that their children were tolerant.It is stated by the parents that their children were helpful,well behaved and understanding.
The present study aims investigating the relation between educational philosophies adopted by pro... more The present study aims investigating the relation between educational philosophies adopted by prospective teachers and their teaching-learning conceptions. In the study, relational screening model was used. In the study, simple random sampling method was used. The study included 431 prospective teachers studying in divisions of elementary school teaching, science, social studies, Turkish, preschool, English, psychological consultancy and guidance and computer teaching. The data in the study were collected by using the scale of teaching- learning conceptions and the scale of philosophic preference assessment. Descriptive statistics, multi-linear regression analysis and Pearson product moment correlation analysis took place in data analyses. As a result, it was seen that the prospective teachers responded as “I agree” to the contemporary educational philosophy dimension of the educational philosophy that they adopted while they responded as “I agree in part” to the traditional educational philosophy and as “I agree” to the constructive sub-dimension of the teaching-learning conceptions’ scale and as “I agree in part” to the traditional sub-dimension. It was determined that there is a relation at low and moderate levels in the directions of positive and negative between the scores of the prospective teachers in the educational philosophy they adopted and their scores in teaching-learning conceptions while sub-dimensions of traditional and contemporary educational philosophies of the scale of philosophic preference assessment that they adopted has a significant relation with the teaching-learning conceptions.

In the research, as one of the qualitative research designs, phenomenology was used. The participants of the research consist of 10 students from the 4 th grade of primary school in a province of the Eastern Anatolian Region during the school year of 2015-2016. Convenience sampling method as one of purposeful sampling was used in the research. In the research, data was collected using a semi-structured interview form as one of the interview methods. As one of the qualitative analyses, descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data. Various strategies were used to ensure validity and reliability in the research. As a result of the research most of the students have indicated that they had learned new information thanks to the activities which were implemented, that they had acquired tolerance, that they started to help disabled persons in their daily lives, that they would be pleased to act on the drama concerning violence to women, that they would feel respect for individuals with different cultural characteristics and that they would help disabled individuals around them and at they could use what they learned in the social studies lessons. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin çoğu uygulanan etkinlikler sayesinde yeni bilgiler öğrendiklerini, hoşgörü değerini kazandıklarını, günlük hayatlarında engelli bireylere yardım etmeye başladıklarını, kadına şiddet ile ilgili dramayı severek yaptıklarını, günlük hayatlarında farklı kültürel özellikteki bireylere saygı duyacaklarını ve çevrelerindeki engelli bireylere yardım edeceklerini, farklı kültürel özelliklere sahip bireylere karşı hoşgörülü olacaklarını ve öğrendiklerini sosyal bilgiler dersinde kullanabileceklerini belirtmişlerdir. Descriptive survey model was used in this research. 321 prospective elementary school teachers participated in the study. Personal Information Form, " Democracy Oriented Attitude Scale " and "Critical Thinking Standards Scale" were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance analyses methods were used (MANOVA) for the analysis of the data. Following the research, it was observed that the opinions of prospective elementary school teachers concerning the critical thinking standards and Democracy oriented attitude scales were as " I agree ". No significant difference was observed between the critical thinking standards scores and democracy oriented attitude scores of the prospective elementary school teachers in terms of gender, university entrance score type variables, however, significant difference was observed in terms of their class levels and graduated high school types. Recommendations have been developed depending upon the research findings. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relation between prospective classroom teacher... more The main objective of this study is to analyze the relation between prospective classroom teachers' critical thinking standards and their attitudes towards democracy. The research was carried out with prospective teachers who are from the 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th grades and who study at the Department of Elementary Teaching at Çukurova University. The study used random sampling method. The research group holds a total of 326 prospective teachers. The study deployed two data collection tools. "Attitude Scale for Democracy" devoloped by Oral (2008) and "Critical Thinking Standards Scale" devoloped by Aybek, Aslan, Dinçer and Coşkun-Arısoy (2015). Pearson product-moment correlation and multivariate variance analysis were used during the data analysis. Research results have demonstrated a positive and medium level of significant relationship between prospective teachers' critical thinking standards and their attitudes towards democracy. The dimensions of critical thinking standards such as depth-breadth-sufficiency, precision-accuracy and significance-relevance-clarity dimensions were found to have a significant relationship with the attitude towards democracy and three variables account for about 38% of the attitude towards democracy. Proposals were developed based on the findings derived from the research.

Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nin bir ilinde görev yapan 10 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubu belirlenirken maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak veriler toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde nitel veri analizlerinden biri olan içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda kadın öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitimi daha çok farklı inanca sahip bireylere verilen eğitim, erkek öğretmenler ise daha çok farklı inanca ve ırka sahip bireylere verilen eğitim olarak algılamaktadırlar. Öğretmenler derslerinde çokkültürlü eğitim ile ilgili daha çok öğrenci merkezli etkinlikler yapmakta ve örnek olay yöntemini kullanmaktadır. Öğretmenler çokkültürlü eğitimi uygularlarken daha çok öğrenciden kaynaklı sorunlarla karşılaşmaktalar ve bu soruna yönelik öneriler geliştirmişlerdir. Öğretmenler değerlerin kazandırılmasının çokkültürlü eğitimin avantajı olarak görürken, öğrencilerin birbirlerine karşı ön yargılarının olmasını dezavantajı olarak görmektedirler. ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to examine the opinions of the social studies teachers regarding multicultural education. In this research, one of the qualitative research patterns, the phenomenology pattern, is used. Ten social studies teachers working in a city of Eastern Anatolia Region in the academic year of 2015-2016 constitute the study group of the research. In determining the study group of the research, the method of Maximum variation sampling is used. In the research, the data are collected by using a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis, which is one of the qualitative data analyzes, is used in the analysis of the data. In the research results, on the one hand, female teachers perceive multicultural education as the education given to individuals who have different believes more; the male teachers, on the other hand perceive as the education given to individuals who have different beliefs and races more. In their lessons, the teachers rather conduct student-centered activities related to multicultural education and use the case study method. The teachers have mostly encountered problems originating from the students while practicing multicultural education and have developed suggestions for this

In this research, the descriptive survey model, one of the survey models, was used. The population of the study consists of prospective teachers studying in the faculty of education at Cukurova University. Convenience sampling method, one of the purposive sampling method, wasapplied in the research,. The sample comprises of 443 prospective teachers studying in Faculty of Education at Cukurova University in the 2015-2016 academic year. Personal Information Form and " Self-Regulation Scale " developed by Aydın, Özer-Keskin ve Yel (2013) were used as data collection tool in this study. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance were utilized during the analysis of the data (MANOVA). In the research, it was observed that the prospective teachers were on the " I agree " level for general scale and dimension of self-affirmation, while this level was " I partly agree " for dimensions of self-observation and self-assessment. The dimensions of self-observation and self-affirmation scores of prospective teachers did not differ greatly in terms of gender, but dimension of self-assessment differed greatly in terms of gender. The dimensions of self-observation and self-affirmation scores of prospective teachers did not differ greatly in terms of class, but dimension of self-assessment differed greatly in terms of class. As a data collection tool in the research, the personal information form, the Tolerance Tendency Scale and the Helpfulness Attitude Scale were used. In the analysis of data, descriptive analysis and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used. Consequently, of primary school 4th grade students were found to respond to the tolerance tendency scale as completely adequate level, and as I fully agree to the helpfulness attitude scale. While the tolerance to tendency scores of the students showed significant differences regarding gender, father's educational level; they have not shown significant difference regarding mother's educational level and socioeconomic level. While the students' helpfulness attitude scores showed significant difference regarding gender, mother's educational status, father's educational status, it did not show a significant difference regarding socioeconomic level. Proposals were developed based on the findings derived from the research.

Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance analysis (MANOVA) was used in the analysis of data. It was seen at the end of the research that teacher candidates pointed out their opinions as " I agree " for the critical thinking tendency and philosophical preference assessment scales. While the Tendencies of teacher candidates has showed a significant difference in terms of sex and department variables, they has showed no significant difference in terms of classroom variable. While their educational philosophies show a significant difference in terms of department and class variables, they has showed no significant difference in terms of sex variable.

The research sample holds a total of 440 secondary school students studying at secondary schools located within the province of Elazig during 2016-2017 academic year. The participants have been selected by stratified sampling method. This research has deployed personal information form and basic democratic values as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) have been used during data analysis. Research results have suggested that secondary school students have a "high" level of participation regarding basic democratic values scale. While a significant difference has been identified across the dimensions of the basic democratic values in terms of gender, class level, academic achievement and socioeconomic levels of the schools, parents' educational status is free from any significant difference. Based upon the research findings, various recommendations have been provided. Future studies may be conducted on parents' views regarding basic democratic values. Basic democratic values adopted by the students studying at schools with different socioeconomic levels should be sought through observations.

The research has utilized the cross-sectional survey model, which is one of the descriptive survey models. The research sample holds a total of the fourth-grade 383 prospective teachers who study at teacher training programs and who have been selected by simple random sampling method. This research has been collected through personal information form and curriculum literacy scale. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) have been used during data analysis. Research results have revealed that prospective teachers have a "high" level of views regarding curriculum literacy dimensions-reading and writing. No significant difference has been identified across reading and writing dimensions in terms of gender and department. A statistically significant difference has been determined across the dimension of reading in favour of those receiving the course; however, the dimension of writing is free from any significant difference. Based upon the research findings, various recommendations have been provided. Qualitative researches carried out in order to analyze prospective teachers' curriculum literacy in depth will contribute to the relevant literature. Comparative studies that explore teachers' and prospective teachers' curriculum literacy may be conducted.
This research aims to examine the current situation of multicultural education in elementary scho... more This research aims to examine the current situation of multicultural education in elementary schools. Therefore, the views of the classroom teachers on multicultural education have been examined and multicultural education activities have been observed in the classes. Having a case study research method which is considered as one of the qualitative research designs, the study hosts a total of 15 classroom teachers who worked in the province of Elazig during the 2016 and 2017 academic year. The maximum variation sampling method has been used in the research. The research has employed semi-structured interview and observation forms. The research data has been analyzed through content analysis. Research results have revealed that most of the teachers perceive multicultural education as education presented to the individuals with different ethnic identities. Teachers' perceptions towards multicultural education have been identified to be similar in terms of their gender, seniority and educational status. Teachers mostly do student-centred activities related to multicultural education, use drama and case studies in their classes. While practising multicultural education, teachers mostly encounter with student-related problems. The majority of the people have recommended that parents be trained on the relevant subject. Similar results have emerged in the observations made by the researcher. Based on the research findings, several recommendations have been provided. Primary school curricula should be organized taking multicultural education into consideration, and the problems identified by teachers should be eliminated by those concerned.
Epistemological beliefs refer to the systems of the certainty of knowledge, the source of knowled... more Epistemological beliefs refer to the systems of the certainty of knowledge, the source of knowledge, the creation of knowledge by the individuals, the acquisition of knowledge and subjective beliefs about the structure of knowledge. They influence the decisions and choices of a teacher in teaching methods, classroom management, and so on. In this regard, it is of great importance to analyze the epistemological beliefs of prospective teachers in terms of several variables and to present a general framework. The objective of this study is the investigation of the epistemological beliefs of prospective teachers in terms of certain variable. Descriptive survey model was used in this research. 426 prospective teachers participated in the research. Personal Information Form, and "Epistemological Beliefs Scale" were used as data collection tool in this study. Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance analyses methods were used (MANOVA) for the analysis of the data obtained. Following the research, it was observed that the opinions of prospective teachers concerning the Epistemological Beliefs Scale were as " partially I agree ". No significant difference was observed between the Epistemological Beliefs scores of the prospective teachers in terms of gender, however significant difference was observed in terms of their class levels, department and university entrance score type variables. Various recommendations have been developed based upon the findings.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the tendency to tolerance an... more The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the tendency to tolerance and helpfulness behavior in 4 th grade primary school students. Relational screening model was used in the study. Simple random sampling method was used in the study. 265 students from the 4 th grade of the primary school students have participated to the study. The data in the study were collected by using the scale of tolerance and the scale of helpfulness attitude. Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the data pearson product moments correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of data. As a result, it was found that a medium level significant relationship in the positive direction existed between the tolerance tendency scores and helpfulness attitude scores of fourth grade students, that the value belonging to tolerance displayed a significant relationship with acceptance and empathy sub-dimensions and that all three variables together explained 24% of the helpfulness attitude. This result has also revealed a predictive relationship between students' tendencies towards tolerance and helpfulness attitudes. Based upon the findings, following recommendations have been provided.

" Most of the parents indicated that there would be fights if they were not tolerant.They stated that they mostly used suggestopedia to make their children tolerant individuals.Most of the parents indicated that their children were tolerant.It is stated by the parents that their children were helpful,well behaved and understanding.

In the study, relational screening model was used. In the study, simple random sampling method was used. The study included 431 prospective teachers studying in divisions of elementary school teaching, science, social studies, Turkish, preschool, English, psychological consultancy and guidance and computer teaching. The data in the study were collected by using the scale of teaching- learning conceptions and the scale of philosophic preference assessment. Descriptive statistics, multi-linear regression analysis and Pearson product moment correlation analysis took place in data analyses. As a result, it was seen that the prospective teachers responded as “I agree” to the contemporary educational philosophy dimension of the educational philosophy that they adopted while they responded as “I agree in part” to the traditional educational philosophy and as “I agree” to the constructive sub-dimension of the teaching-learning conceptions’ scale and as “I agree in part” to the traditional sub-dimension. It was determined that there is a relation at low and moderate levels in the directions of positive and negative between the scores of the prospective teachers in the educational philosophy they adopted and their scores in teaching-learning conceptions while sub-dimensions of traditional and contemporary educational philosophies of the scale of philosophic preference assessment that they adopted has a significant relation with the teaching-learning conceptions.

In the research, as one of the qualitative research designs, phenomenology was used. The participants of the research consist of 10 students from the 4 th grade of primary school in a province of the Eastern Anatolian Region during the school year of 2015-2016. Convenience sampling method as one of purposeful sampling was used in the research. In the research, data was collected using a semi-structured interview form as one of the interview methods. As one of the qualitative analyses, descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data. Various strategies were used to ensure validity and reliability in the research. As a result of the research most of the students have indicated that they had learned new information thanks to the activities which were implemented, that they had acquired tolerance, that they started to help disabled persons in their daily lives, that they would be pleased to act on the drama concerning violence to women, that they would feel respect for individuals with different cultural characteristics and that they would help disabled individuals around them and at they could use what they learned in the social studies lessons. Personal Information Form, " Democracy Oriented Attitude Scale " and "Critical Thinking Standards Scale" were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance analyses methods were used (MANOVA) for the analysis of the data. Following the research, it was observed that the opinions of prospective elementary school teachers concerning the critical thinking standards and Democracy oriented attitude scales were as " I agree ". No significant difference was observed between the critical thinking standards scores and democracy oriented attitude scores of the prospective elementary school teachers in terms of gender, university entrance score type variables, however, significant difference was observed in terms of their class levels and graduated high school types. Recommendations have been developed depending upon the research findings. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relation between prospective classroom teacher... more The main objective of this study is to analyze the relation between prospective classroom teachers' critical thinking standards and their attitudes towards democracy. The research was carried out with prospective teachers who are from the 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th grades and who study at the Department of Elementary Teaching at Çukurova University. The study used random sampling method. The research group holds a total of 326 prospective teachers. The study deployed two data collection tools. "Attitude Scale for Democracy" devoloped by Oral (2008) and "Critical Thinking Standards Scale" devoloped by Aybek, Aslan, Dinçer and Coşkun-Arısoy (2015). Pearson product-moment correlation and multivariate variance analysis were used during the data analysis. Research results have demonstrated a positive and medium level of significant relationship between prospective teachers' critical thinking standards and their attitudes towards democracy. The dimensions of critical thinking standards such as depth-breadth-sufficiency, precision-accuracy and significance-relevance-clarity dimensions were found to have a significant relationship with the attitude towards democracy and three variables account for about 38% of the attitude towards democracy. Proposals were developed based on the findings derived from the research.

Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nin bir ilinde görev yapan 10 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubu belirlenirken maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak veriler toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde nitel veri analizlerinden biri olan içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda kadın öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitimi daha çok farklı inanca sahip bireylere verilen eğitim, erkek öğretmenler ise daha çok farklı inanca ve ırka sahip bireylere verilen eğitim olarak algılamaktadırlar. Öğretmenler derslerinde çokkültürlü eğitim ile ilgili daha çok öğrenci merkezli etkinlikler yapmakta ve örnek olay yöntemini kullanmaktadır. Öğretmenler çokkültürlü eğitimi uygularlarken daha çok öğrenciden kaynaklı sorunlarla karşılaşmaktalar ve bu soruna yönelik öneriler geliştirmişlerdir. Öğretmenler değerlerin kazandırılmasının çokkültürlü eğitimin avantajı olarak görürken, öğrencilerin birbirlerine karşı ön yargılarının olmasını dezavantajı olarak görmektedirler. ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to examine the opinions of the social studies teachers regarding multicultural education. In this research, one of the qualitative research patterns, the phenomenology pattern, is used. Ten social studies teachers working in a city of Eastern Anatolia Region in the academic year of 2015-2016 constitute the study group of the research. In determining the study group of the research, the method of Maximum variation sampling is used. In the research, the data are collected by using a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis, which is one of the qualitative data analyzes, is used in the analysis of the data. In the research results, on the one hand, female teachers perceive multicultural education as the education given to individuals who have different believes more; the male teachers, on the other hand perceive as the education given to individuals who have different beliefs and races more. In their lessons, the teachers rather conduct student-centered activities related to multicultural education and use the case study method. The teachers have mostly encountered problems originating from the students while practicing multicultural education and have developed suggestions for this

In this research, the descriptive survey model, one of the survey models, was used. The population of the study consists of prospective teachers studying in the faculty of education at Cukurova University. Convenience sampling method, one of the purposive sampling method, wasapplied in the research,. The sample comprises of 443 prospective teachers studying in Faculty of Education at Cukurova University in the 2015-2016 academic year. Personal Information Form and " Self-Regulation Scale " developed by Aydın, Özer-Keskin ve Yel (2013) were used as data collection tool in this study. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance were utilized during the analysis of the data (MANOVA). In the research, it was observed that the prospective teachers were on the " I agree " level for general scale and dimension of self-affirmation, while this level was " I partly agree " for dimensions of self-observation and self-assessment. The dimensions of self-observation and self-affirmation scores of prospective teachers did not differ greatly in terms of gender, but dimension of self-assessment differed greatly in terms of gender. The dimensions of self-observation and self-affirmation scores of prospective teachers did not differ greatly in terms of class, but dimension of self-assessment differed greatly in terms of class. Consequently, of primary school 4th grade students were found to respond to the tolerance tendency scale as completely adequate level, and as I fully agree to the helpfulness attitude scale. While the tolerance to tendency scores of the students showed significant differences regarding gender, father's educational level; they have not shown significant difference regarding mother's educational level and socioeconomic level. While the students' helpfulness attitude scores showed significant difference regarding gender, mother's educational status, father's educational status, it did not show a significant difference regarding socioeconomic level. Proposals were developed based on the findings derived from the research.

It was seen at the end of the research that teacher candidates pointed out their opinions as " I agree " for the critical thinking tendency and philosophical preference assessment scales. While the Tendencies of teacher candidates has showed a significant difference in terms of sex and department variables, they has showed no significant difference in terms of classroom variable. While their educational philosophies show a significant difference in terms of department and class variables, they has showed no significant difference in terms of sex variable.

The study used relational screening model and convenience sampling method which is one of the purposeful sampling methods. The participants consisted of 393 prospective teachers from different majors such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, health, biology, philosophy, religious culture, Turkish language and literature, music, painting and ceramics. The study deployed two data collection tools and personal information form. "Critical Thinking Attitude Scale" and "Code of Professional Ethics Scale". Descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation, multivariate variance analysis were used during the data analysis. Research results have indicated a medium level of relationship between the critical thinking attitude of prospective teachers and their professional ethical principles. Also, the dimensions of critical thinking attitudes such as willingness to collect information, self-regulation, inference, evidence-based decision making and openness to seek reasons dimensions were found to have a significant relationship with the professional ethical principles, and the five variables account for about 13% of the professional ethical principles. Taking the significance tests of the regression coefficients into consideration, the dimensions of willingness to collect information, self-regulation and openness to seek reasons are regarded as the significant predictors of the professional ethical principles. Based upon the research findings, the following recommendations are provided: The availability of critical thinking and democratic education courses within the teaching certificate program or the inclusion of critical thinking and professional ethical principles in the pedagogical formation courses based on the subject will provide prospective teachers to have positive critical thinking attitudes and professional ethical principles. As a result, they will ensure students to gain critical thinking skills during the teaching process, and they are to show ethical behaviors towards their profession. Critical thinking and professional ethical principles can be examined via experimental and qualitative researches and different measurement tools.

In order to Demirel (2012) the anxiety is the observable and unpleasant emotional reactions such as the situations which couses sadness and stress in individuals. When the preschool children's developmental characteristics taken into consideration, care in particular is seen as important to be cultivated in the selection of pre-school teachers and teachers to serve children during this period (Gürkan, 2007; Zembat, 2007). Therefore, it is important to have a low level of occupational concerns of teachers who will work in pre-school. Because, the low level of anxiety of teachers will contribute to their qualitative increases and do their duties better. Hence it is thought that the teacher was important to examine it in the pre-service occupational concerns. When the literature related to occupational concerns of prospective teacher investigated in Turkey, it is possible to find a variety of research on this subject (Bozdam ve Taşğın, 2011; Dilmaç, 2010; Köse, 2006; Taşğın, 2006; Ünaldı ve Anaz; 2008). When analyzed in these studies, a study has not been observed directly to occupational concerns of teachers studying in pre-school education. As mentioned above, it has a great importance on the development of students pre-school teachers. In this regard, teachers are required to have a low level of concern in the pre-service training for professions. Only in this way, teachers can be more efficient when they started the profession. Therefore, the professional anxiety levels of prospective teachers studying in pre-school education is required to be examined in terms of different variables. This study performed is thought to contribute to the training and shed light on the studies of the teacher candidates studying in pre-school.
