The purpose of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the LIBRES, Library and Information Science Research Electronic Journal between 2004 and 2010. Literature, both past and present, has established that bibliometric analysis plays a very important role in the field of Library and Information Science, especially in the areas of research evaluation and quality adjustment of published articles. Bibliographic analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The results of the study revealed that a total of 61 articles were published in the 7-year period with 12 articles as the highest number in 2008. Most of the articles were within the general subject area of Library and Information Science and were written by a single author. Hence, the degree of collaboration was 0.279, and the majority of the publications were contributed by authors in universities.

The main aim of scientific research is to systematically generate valid data which is measurable, reproducible, and testable, contributing to the existing knowledge about the subject. This paper explains the Altmetrics of Nature Journal that is a summation of the impact of all articles in a journal based on citations. Article-level metrics measured the impact of individual articles, including usage (e.g., pageviews, downloads), citations, and social metrics like Twitter, Facebook and blogs, of non-duplicate online mentions. The present paper deals with the primary channels for literature in LIS in India. It discusses about the geographical distribution of various LIS journals in India. It concludes that there are sufficient primary channels for literature in LIS is available for the LIS professionals and they need to contribute to keep these channels alive.

The paper deals with study of researcher identification (ID) and it enumerates various researcher ID that are available for authors. It points out the proliferation of research ID's and the role they play in the existing environment. It discusses the various advantages of research Id's and concludes that it helps the authors to distinguish themselves among the global research community.

The present bibliometric study has been undertaken with the view to understand the latest publication distribution pattern of the articles published in Guide to Indian Periodical Literature (GIPL) during the last two decade. Present analysis covers the areas like article distribution pattern, authorship pattern, reference, and geographical distribution of authors, etc. At the time of data mining of said journal, 1102 articles were published during the period 1991-2010. India since being the host country, as such proved to be one of the major contributors of the journal in every respect. Individual contribution of authors to the journal has been tabulated as per articles contributed, highlighted in their standing order. On average 55.1 articles have been published in each issue of each volume. Researchers from different countries across the world have contributed research articles to the journal during the period of study.
