temp Logo change
[edit]<kibble> for some "milestone" temporary logo change on a local wiki, would you suggest asking the developers to update the image or doing a quick hack via MediaWiki:Common.css like http://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.css&diff=34389&oldid=34257 ?
- CSS, JS and images can all be cached up to 30 days client side, so no solution is perfect if you want a clean break coming on and going off (except to modify the actual html of the page). Splarka (talk) 03:18, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Adding My site
[edit]Hi, can you add my site test.vindemi.com to your list http://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests/Tools? Thanks. --Truetech (talk) 04:20, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Could you provide us with more background info on your wiki? (e.g. IRC? Uploads? Wikipedia GFDL Compliant?) we would need to fill all that out when we add your wiki to the page. --Az1568 (talk) 04:42, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well I just started the site, but I will be offering: IRC in approximately two days, It is wikipedia GFDL Compliant, You may upload up to 35 MB, And there is a privacy policy, It runs the latest version of MW (BETA or STABLE depending what is the most current), It's check user, default skin is monobook, but users are aloud to make a skin and upload it to the site, Language is English and oversight. Thanks and CHeers, --Truetech (talk) 17:35, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Done --Az1568 (talk) 19:54, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- On the page it says no for irc and oversight. I have just installed both of them. Would you mind to update it? Thanks. --Truetech (talk) 22:38, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Sysop + Crat access
[edit]Hi there I was wondering if I could get the rights of sysop as I am a trusted user on en.wikipedia and also on many other of the sites that wikipedia operate. ScribblewikiLover (talk) 10:41, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you have a reason to test on the developer's wiki (not just "to test out the tools"), then you can put your request on Project:Requests and give a reason. Otherwise, if you just want to test out the tools, visit http://wiki.xyrael.net/wiki/. Cbrown1023 discussion <staff/> 12:12, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
[edit]Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
