Then everything changed when the Chaos Planet attacked.

Far from Cybertron lies the organic world of Elonia, capital of the Solstar Order and the homeworld of the Elonian species. An idyllic world notable for its scientific and technological advances, Elonia is also the birthplace of Rom and the most important planet in the Solstar Order's war against the villainous Dire Wraiths—without the unique ore mined on Elonia, the Space Knights would lose their most important edge against their deceitful foes.

At the conclusion of the First Cybertronian Civil War some ten million years ago, the Titan Emissary, carrying the body of Prima, crashed on Elonia. The First Who Was Named Towards the end of the second interstellar Cybertronian conflict, the Great War, the Decepticon scientist Shockwave selected Elonia as one of the thirteen planets to send his Regenesis ores, Shockwaves Our Darkest unaware that his time-travelling future self, in the guise of "Onyx Prime", had deliberately manipulated circumstances so that the younger Shockwave would choose this planet as the seeding ground for what he dubbed "Ore-12."

Over the millennia, the native Elonians—unaware of the Cybertronian influences that had shaped their planet—continued to evolve, developing various civilizations before finally unifying under a global government, discovering faster-than-light travel, and making contact with other alien races. Shining Armor #3 As they did this, Shockwave's ore continued to catalyze, and was pushed deeper underground by a series of tectonic events, eventually coming to rest deep beneath the Thrail Mountains, atop Emissary's final resting place. This extraordinary mineral would attract the attention of a different alien race: some three hundred years ago, the Elonian system was invaded by the Dire Wraiths, alien shapeshifters who wielded dark magic. Though the Wraiths were also unaware of the true origins of Ore-12, their lust for the mineral prompted a protracted conflict that spread beyond Elonia and into the surrounding region of space. Eventually, the warrior Orphion would ally with the Elonian Carax, and together they founded the alliance that would become the Solstar Order. Knights of the Solstar Order profile

As the new capital of this alliance, Elonia was well-protected from any unwelcome invaders by means of a planet-spanning laser grid. Protected from hostile invaders, Elonia became a utopic world where science and technology had conquered many societal ills. Believing themselves safe from their arch-foes, the Elonians were unprepared when a contingent of Wraiths breached the shield and invaded the planet, leading to a ground war between the two sides. Rookie cadet Rom became the first Elonian to discover Ore-12 in a mine beneath the Thrail Mountains; after bonding with his new suit of armor and repelling the Wraiths, the newly minted Space Knights were able to harness the Ore-12 and repel the Wraiths from their world. Some years later, Rom rescued an orphaned protoform and brought it to Elonia. Solstar scientists were able to build a fuel synthesizer for the young Transformer and raised Stardrive alongside other young aliens in an Elonian school. Shining Armor #1 As a result of their distance from Cybertron, the Elonians were only vaguely aware of the Autobot-Decepticon conflict and conflated the two factions, believing that all Cybertronians were hostile invaders like the Decepticons. While on Earth in the modern day, Rom often swore by the landmarks and deities of Elonia. The New Colossus

After reactivating Trypticon, Bludgeon considered using the Titan's power to conquer Elonia. Salvation

The presence of Ore-12 meant that Elonia was one of the thirteen Cybertronian colonies singled out by Unicron. His approach to the planet caused Rom and Stardrive to experience a psychic attack, alerting them both of the danger. Unstopped and Unstoppable Upon arrival, the planet-killer easily pushed through the planetary defense grid and began tearing the planet apart. Optimus Prime and his allies joined Rom as they attempted to evacuate the planet, discovering Emissary in the process and quickly deducing that Unicron had been drawn to this world due to the presence of one of Shockwave's Regenesis ores. Ultimately, Wheeljack was able to use space bridge technology to safely teleport two-thirds of the planet's population to Cybertron, sacrificing his life in the process. What remained of Elonia was unceremoniously devoured by Unicron, absorbing the power of Ore-12 in the process. Our Darkest

Notes

  • The planet Elonia is a substitute for the planet Galador from the original Marvel ROM comic, owing to Galador itself being an intellectual property of Marvel Comics.
  • According to Chris Ryall, Elonia was named after Elon Musk. (Look, it was a different time, alright?) [1]
  • Notable Elonian wildlife includes a two-headed dragon-like creature and a six-legged, four-eyed porcine; this latter animal was hunted by prehistoric Elonians, but was evidently later domesticated. Stardrive owned a plush toy of one in her childhood.
