MECH
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the evil organization. For the mechanical suits from Crossovers, see Mech. |
- MECH is a human organization from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.
MECH is an organization working in opposition to the United States government. They seek to create a "newer world order" through the application of cutting-edge technology. For MECH, procuring such technology includes stealing it. It isn't clear what "MECH" stands for, if anything.
Known members include:
- Silas, the leader.
- An unnamed navigator who flies helicopters and counteracts hackers.
- An unnamed surgeon who provides the Transformer components for MECH.
- Unnamed commandos who serve as MECH's foot soldiers.
- MECH 1, a field leader.
- Novo, a covert surveillance operative.

After being discharged from the military, Colonel Leland Bishop founded MECH under the codename Silas. He may later have been joined by other members of the US military, some of whom were still enlisted personnel at the time. Grill
Aiming to secure the Dynamic Nuclear Generation System, Silas shot down Agent Fowler's jet. When Fowler continued his journey by truck, Silas sent MECH agents in cars to try and intercept the convoy, only to experience resistance from the vehicles, which were in reality Autobots. The convoy came under attack from Vehicons, resulting in the Autobots revealing their true forms and thus though MECH's further attempt to secure the D.N.G.S. resulted in failure, they at least learned of the Autobots' presence on Earth. Convoy
MECH's next operation concerning the Transformers involved capturing Breakdown on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Though a group of Autobots, including Bulkhead who directly assaulted the MECH base, managed to free Breakdown, MECH had been able to extract enough information that Silas could initiate Project Chimera. Operation: Breakdown
Silas's team encountered the rogue Decepticon Airachnid, who cut a deal with them: if Silas could find Jack Darby for her, she would give them Arcee. Silas was successful in locating Jack's mother June Darby and they used her to lure Jack and Arcee to a factory in Jasper. MECH didn't get a chance to extract any technology from Arcee before Fowler arrived, but Silas was able to observe Airachnid scanning a helicopter. Crisscross Fowler was still on edge enough a bit later to at first blame a Decepticon theft on MECH. One Shall Fall
As Project Chimera neared completion, MECH set a homing beacon trap for a Transformer to investigate. When Bumblebee fell for the bait, they ambushed the Autobot and removed his T-cog. Back at base, they attempted to install it in their custom-made robot, only to meet with failure, however they'd been followed by the ex-Decepticon Starscream, who entered into an alliance with them. Operation Bumblebee, Part 1 After securing the necessary energon, MECH tried again, but their activation of the robot was interrupted by Bumblebee. MECH was forced to retreat, minus both the cog and the robot, however they were able to obtain another cog from Starscream. Operation Bumblebee, Part 2
A group of MECH soldiers, led by MECH 1, stumbled on Breakdown's dismembered body and spirited it away. Crossfire MECH finally completed Project Chimera with an almost exact copy of Optimus Prime. Silas used it to turn the military against the Autobots, however the Autobots eventually located their base and attacked it. With the help of Fowler, Optimus defeated Nemesis Prime, which fell on Silas. MECH still managed to evacuate the site with the gravely wounded Silas. The surgeon set about preserving their leader with the help of Breakdown's corpse. Nemesis Prime
Silas was integrated with Breakdown's body by the surgeon. The newly-awakened "Cylas" decided that his rightful place was now among the Transformers and terminated the surgeon and troopers before going to try to join the Decepticons. Unfortunately the plan he came up with as a bargaining chip failed, and he was instead hauled away to Knock Out's dissection table. The Human Factor The organization was finally ended once and for all months later when Cylas perished after Airachnid ended his grisly existence. Thirst
Titan Prime comic
With Silas on a drive for revenge against Jack Darby for the incident with Airachnid, MECH began blowing up high schools in Jasper County in an attempt to draw the boy out. It didn't seem to work out as well as Silas hoped. School Is... Out!
As well as Project Chimera, MECH had Project Mechanoid on the go. Agent Novo retrieved the specs for a neuron refractor, which the MECH technicians were able to duplicate, allowing them to transfer Novo's mind into the mechanoid body they had built. Unfortunately for them, at that point Novo decided that he was above MECH and destroyed the base. The Novo Incident

Notes
- The chartreuse cars MECH agents drive appear to be based on Chevrolet Corvettes, circa 1980.
- In a highly unusual move, MECH soldiers have been shown to be surprisingly expendable. A large number have suffered (heavily) implied deaths from everything from having their cars knocked off the road and spinning into another MECH vehicle, to having helicopters blow up without the customarily obvious parachuting to safety, to simple, spine shattering blunt trauma. Not only are humans implied to be dying in a Transformers show, the majority have been taken out by Autobots. Damn. Add in the torture and evisceration threats and it's just not safe to walk the streets anymore.
