Under unknown circumstances, Pentius's ship crashed on Junkion, causing him to be trapped under debris. He spent several hundred years with nothing to do but use the ship's computers to study the geography of the planet. That changed one fateful day when Megatron entered the wreckage in search of shelter. Introducing himself as a fellow "king without a throne", Pentius told the Decepticon there was only one way off-world, but warned him that the path was so perilous that one has to become a monster to survive. Megatron freed the Quintesson to serve as his guide across the planet, simultaneously putting him in chains to make it clear he was nothing but a slave. Faces of Darkness
Pentius led Megatron to the Acid Sea, where the latter was attacked by Sharkticons Rage who were quick to release him, which Pentius found "interesting" (knowing the connection between Quintessons and Sharkticons, he may have had something to do with it...) He then saw fit to tell Megatron of Junkion's past as a rich and plentiful world, doomed by its inhabitants' hubris, and warn him not to let the same thing happen to his own planet. He was pleased when Megatron's response was that he'd utterly dominate Cybertron and create an everlasting empire. Fallout Arriving at their destination, the Pillar of Rust, Pentius and Megatron were met by the Terrorcons, on a mission to destroy their former leader. As Megatron fought a losing battle against Hun-Gar, the Quintesson began to goad his companion, calling him weak and taunting his imminent death, causing Megatron to turn on him and rip out his spark to use as fuel. As he lay dying, the Quintesson expressed pride in his "student"'s actions, believing he had now become truly monstrous. Megatron responded with some level of respect, telling Pentius his legacy of hate would live on with him. Prey
Megatron kept Pentius's spark with him and later inserted part of it into the body of Trypticon, causing the ancient beast to be resurrected. Belly of the Beast Trypticon inherited the late Quintesson's intelligence and memories, causing their minds to blend together into one, though Pentius claimed his memories had become confused and jumbled among Trypticon's own. Part of his spark remained intertwined with Megatron's own, creating a special link that allowed the Decepticon leader to view Trypticon/Pentius's memories. Primacy #1 As Megatron continued his war with the Autobots, however, the consciousness of Pentius revealed that he had been manipulating the Decepticon so that he could devour Cybertron using Trypticon's body. Primacy #3 Realizing his mistake in trusting the Quintesson, Megatron rushed to remove his spark from the temporarily fallen Trypticon, only to be hindered by Optimus Prime. He then tried to convince Prime to kill him, believing the death of his spark would destroy Pentius's as well, but Prime realized something was wrong and instead unleashed the healing light of the Matrix of Leadership upon Megatron, successfully burning away all traces of Pentius's malevolent spark from his body. What happened to the remains of Pentius's consciousness within Trypticon is unknown. Primacy #4

Notes
- Pentius's name is derived from pénte (πέντε), the Greek word for "five", in reference to his five faces.
- Pentius's spark is noticeably green. It may be a normal color for a Quintesson, but it was able to power Trypticon.
- Pentius speaks primarily through the "Death" face, but his "Smiling" and "Wrath" make occasional appearances through the Monstrosity series.
