War Within Preview Protihex.jpg

Protihex is one of Cybertron's many city-states and spans the Sector Six-Zero or Sector Zero-Six area. It neighbors one or more of the following city-states: Iacon, Uraya, and Praxus, making it a candidate for the city-states the Tri-Torus Loop leads to. Also, it just might be located above the Well of All Sparks.

It is sometimes spelled Protohex.

    • An Autobot command post

Protihex was one of the Tri-Peninsular Torus States, along with Praxus and Uraya, and came through the first half a million years of war relatively well. This was in part due to the Autobots taking control of the city-state upon their first victory over the Decepticons in 200.000 years. Protihex's fortune changed 8.2 million years ago, Transformers: The Ultimate Guide shortly after Optimus Prime became the new Autobot leader, when Megatron had Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp dispatched to unmake Protihex's Autobot command post. It was a move of little tactical importance, but necessary to keep the Autobots from finding out what the Decepticons were really up to. Also, it kept Starscream from finding out and interfering with what Megatron was really up to. The War Within #2

While flying over Kaon, the three Seekers spotted Grimlock brooding over Optimus Prime's decision to evacuate Cybertron. Believing that Grimlock was a natural born killer, Starscream gave Grimlock their whole mission profile to attack Protihex and challenged him to make the definitive choice: warn the command post and stick with the Autobots, or help in the assault and rejoin the Decepticons.

The Seekers proceeded to Protihex, but found the command post cleared of Autobots and useful data. Their presence tripped a message from Grimlock on the monitors, which informed them of his decision to stay with the Autobots. With that, a bomb that had been placed exploded, which utterly destroyed the command post. The War Within Preview Skywarp barely managed to warp the three of them out in time. Unwinding on the streets of Protihex, Starscream went on a rant about Megatron's sadism, claiming it was all Megatron's fault. His comrades, in turn, blamed Starscream for his boneheaded decision to tell the enemy of their plans. Having wasted too much time with the Air Commander already, Skywarp and Thundercracker returned to Kolkular, leaving Starscream behind to continue his analysis alone. The War Within #3

In "Conflagration", the area of the battle against The Fallen and the Chaos Trinity is indicated by a narrative box to be in Protihex. A few pages later, Prowl claims the fight is happening in Altihex. The following paragraph may thus describe events that have not taken place in Protihex.

Some two million years later during the Dark Ages, the Decepticons under command of Shockwave tracked the Chaos Trinity to Protihex and declared them under arrest for endangering the entire planet. Aided by the Lightning Strike Coalition and the Autobots, the Decepticons defeated the Chaos Trinity. The temporary alliance followed the access shaft the Chaos Trinity had been guarding to a gate protecting the Well of All Sparks. On the other side, the captives of The Fallen had already taken measures to stop him. When the alliance finally got in, the threat had been dealt with and it was decided to seal up the gate again, this time with a lock for each faction so that whatever was in that room could not be misused by any of them. 2005 IDW continuity

In ancient times, Protohex was ruled by Septimus Prime and his Supplicants of Arrius, who forced their subjects to fight in brutal gladiatorial games in a coliseum. Septimus was slain when Megatronus conquered Protohex, absorbing it into his Darklands. The coliseum was razed and the freed gladiators, including Arcee and Galvatron, joined Megatronus. Origin Myths As such, Galvatron's name was recorded as "Galvatron of Protohex" on the inscription on the first Ark's memorial. Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc

The modern Protihex was one of the Tri-Peninsular Torus States. One time before the war, an electrical storm hit the three states, and as it passed close to Protihex and Praxus, it interrupted newsfeeds and scrambled communications in Rodion. Chaos Theory Part 2

Beast Wars: Uprising

Derailment Operation Amputation.jpg

Protihex was the second-largest city on Cybertron, sprawling over the planet's south pole and overseen by the immobile Builder Icepick. During the Grand Uprising, it fell to the Resistance thanks to Psycho-Orb, who launched a bloodless coup against his supervisors by locking the Builders out of the computer network. Before long, it had become known as the "crown jewel of the Resistance" and a major staging ground for future campaigns. More alarmingly, Protihex's old Games arena had been repurposed into a mockery of ancient Earth, where Micromaster POWs were forced to fight for the amusement of the Maximals and Predacons. Safe Spaces Upon the start of the Vehicon Apocalypse, K-Class Maximal Movor was dispatched aboard the Dreadrock to sterilize Protihex. Unfortunately, the swarming Vehicon hordes forced an early deployment, and consequently Movor's detonation failed to wipe out the infestation. Derailment

Protihex was a surface-level superhighway connecting to most of Cybertron's high-value locations, making it the most critical waypoint. During the war for Cybertron, Ironhide was dispatched to its location as part of his patrol. While there, he detected the presence of the Decepticon Astrotrain and reported to Teletraan-1 that the waypoint had been compromised. Siege Teletraan-1 Data Files
