You incompetent fools! You will all taste OBLIVION!!!

The mysterious Decepticon High Regent Scrash (スクラッシュ Sukurasshu) commands the Decepticon forces from afar as they try to plunder the Earth of its energy. His troops consist of the mighty Battle Gaia, the Jet Corps, and the Master Chaos Power Core Combiners. Some accounts claim that he turns into a large jet,[1] but his true nature remains a mystery, with several events suggesting he has no body of his own, but rather possesses different forms as he chooses.

Ask Vector Prime (1)

The full origins of Scrash were unknown. Vector Prime called him a "bodiless terror", and explained that he was the product of "military science gone awry", but refrained from revealing any more details about his creation. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/09/17

e-HOBBY comics

By the year 2034, Scrash had possessed the body of the Decepticon Skyquake and secretly formed a new splinter faction of Decepticons, of which the Autobot-turned-Decepticon Eagle Eye was a member. Having sensed the coming of a new age, Scrash had ordered Eagle Eye to track down the Decepticon outcast Magnificus to convince the fugitive to join their team, as Scrash sought to exploit Magnificus's special psychometric powers. United EX

In 2035, Scrash oversaw the Decepticons' new "Master Chaos" sub-group in its attempts to steal the new Power Core Combination technology that the Autobots had developed alongside humankind. When Combatmaster succeeded in purloining a set of drones intended for Choppermaster, he reported his success to Scrash, who then instructed him to release Battle Gaia in order to create a distraction that would allow them to continue their thefts. Prelude to the Siege

The location of the Decepticons' base was revealed to the Autobots by Tankmaster, who held no loyalty to Scrash. Ocean Encounter Using this information, the Autobots staged an attack on the excavated mountain cave the Decepticons were operating out of, during which their human ally Clouder, piloting the lifeless Assaultmaster mecha, entered the cave itself. This was when Scrash struck, speaking directly into Clouder's mind and revealing that he had no body of his own, but that Assaultmaster would serve his needs perfectly... Operation Combination

The events of Operation Combination occur broadly simultaneously with those of United EX.

Commanding the Decepticons from a distance, Scrash ordered Battle Gaia and the Jet Corps to attack the Earth and plunder it of energy. The Decepticons only made it as far as Earth's orbit, where they were defeated by the Autobot Scrum Combination. Scrash was oddly absent from the battle, however... Conclusion

The full details of subsequent events are unknown, but Scrash's possession of the Assaultmaster body resulted in a catastrophic event known as the "Prime Mode Plague of 2036". Scrash was ultimately defeated, but the details of this plague and most information about Scrash himself was locked away, along with the Energon Matrix technology that powered Power Core Combination. Despite the failure of the bid for Earth, Scrash's legacy would leave the human race deeply skeptical about the Cybertron Alliance, leading to the murder of Kiloton and the recommencement of Autobot-Decepticon hostilities. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/07/29

Legends comic

Scrash was trapped in Assaultmaster, frozen by the Immobilizer, and kept in a cell in Cybertron. In 2040, Hawking and Magnificus brought Skyquake as a replacement body, which Scrash quickly accepted once the Immobilizer was disabled. However, he was soon faced by the duo of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Epiloge

Scrash was known as the "Mind Maelstrom". He once remarked "those who spurn the corpus of history will inevitably become her corpses".

Origin

Scrash: I will rip out their guts and feast on their entrails! Skyquake: But I'm a vegetarian!

No toy of Scrash was ever released, and he did not appear in any Operation Combination fiction, being mentioned only in its background material. Use of the Turbomasters and Predators in the Operation Combination toyline, coupled with the fact that he turns into a large jet, led fans to conjecture that Scrash would have been the Japanese version of the toy known in Hasbro markets as Skyquake; the fact that in some European markets Skyquake was sold under the name "Crash" seems to support this. Skyquake was also released in Japan in European packaging, with only some legal information on the back changed to Japanese, which seems to bear the idea out further. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II went along with this theory by showing an Animated character called "Air General Scrash" who looks very much like Skyquake. Fiction produced for the Transformers United EX toyline appeared to at long last show Scrash in its third chapter, when an image based on Skyquake appeared on a computer screen (pictured at the head of this article), but subsequent revelations changed the context for the image.

However, the presence of a set of four unseen subordinates (Darkfly, Deathplay, Flashwing, and Sharpedge) has led to alternate speculation that Scrash and his four subordinates would have been redecoes of the Aerialbot molds, in the vein of Operation Combination reusing the Combaticon and Protectobot molds.[2] The only official word on the matter, a glossary entry for "Predator" in Transformers Generations, is that none of the five were meant to be part of the Jet Corps.[3] Ultimately, the original intention for Scrash and his subordinates have been lost to time.

Notes

  • Scrash's title in Japanese is sōtō (総統). This has various possible translations, including "supreme ruler", "president", "generalissimo", and the fandom's long-standing favorite (partially for its comedy value), "führer". With the United EX storyline, writer Andrew Hall elected to translate the term as "High Regent", using the word's meaning—an individual who acts as leader due to the absence of the real ruler—as a springboard to expand on Scrash's role in both this story and Operation Combination.
  • A proposed Fun Publications BotCon exclusive idea was a redeco of Universe Silverbolt into Skyquake/Scrash and Dai Atlas/King Atlas.[4]
