Silver-Bot spoils seaside sojourns, silly sod!

Contents

Synopsis

Silver-Bot pops out of a portal over the sea and, after briefly landing on a giant pearl adorning a tower, proceeds to enjoy himself by creating a huge whirlpool that destroys a pier and a number of rowboats. The Go-Bot Protectors are soon made aware of his antics, as his high-speed passes upturn vehicles, and create a dangerous tornado. Aero-Bot, Strong-Bot and Speed-Bot head for the Go-Chutes for launch.

Silver-Bot's hurricane has begun to threaten a cruise ship, though the captain assures his passengers that they'll get the ship out of danger. While Strong-Bot and Speed-Bot go to help people on the ground, Aero-Bot find himself being challenged to a race by Silver-Bot, who starts towing the cruise ship to make it more of a challenge. Aero-Bot neatly severs the tow-chain, sending Silver-Bot flying into a nearby cliff.

Aero-Bot tows the ship to calm waters by the shore and hands it off to Strong-Bot before heading back to find the troublemaker. Silver-Bot is still intent on having a race to the Island Pearl Resort, so Aero-Bot makes a deal — if he beats Silver-Bot, the upstart will leave Earth. The pair race to the giant pearl and Aero-Bot reaches it first. After a brief struggle over the pearl, Aero-Bot shuts Silver-Bot in the giant clam the pearl was resting in, and starts back.

Meanwhile Speed-Bot is towing a chain of buses filled with people to safety, but his way is blocked by a number of palm trees knocked over by Silver-Bot during the race. What's worse, the approaching twister knocks over a power line which ignites the fallen trees! Aero-Bot swiftly throws the pearl into the nearby sea, dousing the flames with a huge wave, and knocks the obstruction out of the way.

Silver-Bot takes his chance to snatch the pearl back, but is suddenly caught in the hurricane of his own making. Aero-Bot calls to his two companions, who have constructed a cave to keep the humans safe, and he and Speed-Bot race around the twister in the opposite direction to its spin, dissipating the storm and allowing Aero-Bot to snatch the errant Go-Bot from mid-air.

As the humans gather around, Aero-Bot lectures Silver-Bot, who says he's learned his lesson and will go back Botropolis and train to become a protector. All of the humans who he recklessly endangered cheer!

Notes

Animation or technical errors

  • The cruise ship passengers never seem particularly panicked by anything that happens.
  • Improbable viewpoints:
    • Every single image received by the Go-Pod.
  • As Speed-Bot stops in front of the road block, the camera pans along to show he's towing only four buses instead of five.
  • After the obstruction is cleared and Speed-Bot starts to move off, the sea appears to be on the other side of the buses.
  • In the next shot, the beach becomes a gentle slope rather than the sudden cut-off it was before.
  • The hurricane rotates clockwise when Silver-Bot makes it and when he gets caught in it. In between, it rotates counterclockwise.

Continuity errors

  • How did the ground-vehicles Speed-Bot and Strong-Bot get to the island, exactly?
  • That anchor chain sure broke easily.
  • The pearl's weight is not consistent. Aero-Bot throws it into the sea to get water to jump out, which suggests the pearl has a higher density than water. However the pearl is later seen floating, meaning it is less dense than water and shouldn't have been able to cause such a big splash... unless Aero-Bot is really, really, "who-needs-Strong-Bot?" levels of strong.
  • Where does the pearl go after Silver-Bot is caught in the hurricane?
  • As Aero-Bot outlines his plan to Speed-Bot, the hurricane is over the sea, but a few seconds later, it's suddenly on the beach so Speed-Bot can drive around it.

Trivia

  • This and "Arctic Oil Spill" were only available on a video cassette that came packed with one of Speed-Bot's toys in 2003.
  • Despite the title being "Typhoon Twister", it is only called a "typhoon" once and a "hurricane" the rest of the time. Given that the episode seems to take place in the United States of America rather than Asia, the proper term is "hurricane".
