Synopsis

In the ruins of an ancient gladiatorial arena, an exiled Megatron does battle with the Constructicons. Easily overpowering and defeating them, Megatron questions if there is anyone who can challenge him.

Cue Optimus Prime, whom Megatron seems relatively pleased to see, and Windblade. Megatron questions if Optimus has come to finally end their battle, though Optimus insists he isn't here to fight. Regardless, Megatron attacks, forcing Optimus to fight back.

As the two grapple, Optimus insists Cybertron is in danger, though Megatron doesn't seem to care. Megatron instead suggests Optimus can't live without a war, reminding him how he didn't pull the trigger years ago, before hitting him with a sucker punch. Windblade steps in, but not before an enraged Optimus lunges at Megatron.

Optimus and Windblade again try to insist that Cybertron is in danger, though Megatron refuses to listen and attempts to walk away, causing Windblade to hit him with a surprise attack. Pleased with Windblade's tactics and attitude, Megatron listens to what they have to say. Upon being informed that Starscream and the Council have the Enigma of Combination, Megatron joins them, stating that he hates Starscream far more than he hates Optimus. Unnoticed, the Constructicons overhear their conversation and secretly communicate with one another.

The three leave, heading to destroy the Enigma, once and for all...

Quotes

"Hm? Ah, the speaker who became a killer, big fan of your work. Do keep it up."
"Arrogant relic! You have no idea who you're talking to. I've-"
"I meant keep up with the killing, not the speaking. It doesn't suit you."

Megatron shuts Windblade down.

"Brings back memories, eh Prime? The two of us fighting as the galaxy watches on!"
"Cybertron is in danger. The peace treaty has fallen apart."
"The treaty was a false hope, we both knew that. Cybertron can burn. They can all burn!"
"I know you do not mean that."
"Don't I?"

-Megatron and Optimus exchange words as they grapple

"What was that you always used to say, Prime? Oh, that's right. Transform and roll out!"

Megatron steals a catchphrase.

Notes

  • The Constructicons, or at the very least Long Haul as he is the only one we see in robot mode, are based on their Combiner Wars toys.
  • The Constructicons inexplicably communicate through a series of Bumblebee-esque bleeps and bloops (presumably as a means to save money on voice actors).
  • Footage from Optimus Prime's "Prelude" video is used for Megatron's flashback scene.
  • Megatron's hips are shifted well behind the pelvis in the last two front-view shots of the transformer walking, presumably so that the thighs do not clip through the skirt armor (which happens when Megatron first walks towards Optimus Prime). This same modification is used in the later episodes whenever Megatron is shown walking from a front view.
