I humbly disagree on your view. Meta may be an unstoppable juggernaut by now, but it's "just" an enterprise. Companies come and go, usually due to mechanics that us from outside of the fence are unable to understand nor envision. When the inside powers-that-be decide that it's no longer profitable or useful for their political manipulation, money laundering and power exertion, they will shut all of it down, drop the key and never look back.

And Meta is not alone: companies live in an outer existence plain, where they devour each other, bound to laws unfathomable by the plain human. We just cannot know which one will devour which one, they are like eldritch abominations, Lovecraftian beings with their own rules, that ignore even the existence of mankind.

We the humans, miles below their behemoth space, can and do build different, small, interconnected worlds, where we share our little pleasures and anxieties and interests. This space, due to passion, will endure. I cannot say if this will be the Web, the Fediverse, or a totally different thing; I'm just an ignorant observer. But, in my opinion, companies will come and go, but we, the unwashed masses, will abide, sharing our little things with our beloved ones using our weak communication channels.
