Nancy E F Gomes
Nancy Elena Ferreira Gomes. Professor - Department of International Relations of the Autonomous University of Lisbon "Luis de Camões" / UAL (1995-current). Since 2010, she is a researcher at OBSERVARE / UAL introducing two research projects including Ibero-American Community and the Chinese-Latin American Relations. She's also a member of the JANUS.NET and Pensamiento Iberoamericano magazines' Editorial Council and occasionally she has been collaborating as an analyst (external) with the Real Instituto Elcano (based in Madrid), since July 2016.
She completed a PHD in International Relations from the New University of Lisbon / UNL (April, 2014). In 2009, she was awarded a Doctoral Scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for her PhD dissertation, entitled The Policy of Portugal towards Ibero-America since 1991. She also holds a Master in International Relations by the Technical University of Lisbon / UTL (1995), and a Graduation in International Studies from the Central University of Venezuela / UCV (1990).
Prof. Nancy Elena Ferreira Gomes’s main areas of research work and expertise are International Cooperation, namely Ibero-American Community, European - Latin American Relations, Portugal’s foreign policy towards Ibero-American countries. She has written academic and scientific articles and other original works. She is a regular speaker at high-level conferences, seminars and workshops in Portugal and abroad. She is also a regular commentator on Ibero-American affairs in several Portuguese media.
She is a member of the Study Group on “Portugal-Brazil Relationship", created in 2011 by the Portuguese National Defense Institute. She is the Academic Director of FEDERASUR in Portugal, since 2011 and Advisory Board Member of IPDAL, since 2012.
Between September 2001 and October 2008 she worked as a Scholarships Consultant and Manager at the Department of Education and Scholarships (SEB) of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
