Mihai Andrei Leaha is Romanian audio-visual researcher, anthropologist and educator, author of articles and ethnographic films. With a significant background in curating, promoting, and programming ethnographic films, Mihai Andrei Leaha has been actively involved in teaching and organized conferences and festival events in Brazil, Romania, Germany and Spain. He has published articles in collective books and organized dossiers in relevant journals (Cultural Anthropology, Visual Studies, Visual Ethnography, Multimodality and Society) contributing to the fields of visual anthropology, multimodality, ethnomusicology, AI and disinformation studies. His numerous ethnographic films have one prizes and recognition and ethnographic and documentary film festivals (watch films on his website: www.mihaileaha.com)
Since 2023, he is the co-chair of the commission of visual anthropology (CVA) of the IUAES. Currently he is developing post-doctoral research at the University of Barcelona, focusing on the Visual Fake as part of the ERC Project Visual Trust. Reliability, accountability, and forgery in scientific, religious, and social images (2021-2026).

The article explores the experimental collaborations that took place during the filming of the videoclip and the reflexive interactions that happened during the multimodal ‘writing’ process. For that reason, the article is experimental in form, curating and mediating between various multimodal texts: the written word, timelapse animations, photographs and audio recordings. These multimodal dialogical forms of representation describe the web of interactions, encounters, negotiations and frictions that occurred during the creation of the videoclip. The article also explores the idea of space regarded as a ‘fieldwork device’, space becoming a locus of entanglements between human and non-human agencies. “Saudades da festa!”: Triggering sensory memories of DIY electronic music through multimodal practices

DIY electronic music parties in São Paulo are deeply immersive, corporeal and sensorial. In March... more DIY electronic music parties in São Paulo are deeply immersive, corporeal and sensorial. In March 2020, due to the pandemic, the parties stopped, and the scene gradually moved online manifesting itself on a new type of canvas. However, the digital manifestations of the virtual scene lost their performative and multisensorial appeal. By using multimodal elicitation methods (photos, videos, audio tracks, internet memories) this article is exploring the triggered or involuntary memory of embodied and sensorial affects that are being recalled and missed by the “clubbers.” The article intends to exhibit autoethnographic memories of party participation while problematizing the way in which the memory of this missed intense experience comes from a regular attendance to electronic music gatherings and its relationship with the complex feeling of “saudade.”
