Emily C Kemp
I am a postdoctoral scholar with the Pelham Lab at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I received my doctorate (PhD) in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University (LSU) in August 2024, after receiving graduate training in Dr. Paul Frick's Developmental Psychopathology Lab at LSU and predoctoral intern training in the Traumatic Stress Emphasis (Track) with APA-accredited internship site Charleston Consortium with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). My research interests include the underlying mechanisms (e.g., deficient empathy development) with which callous-unemotional (CU) traits develop, neural and cognitive correlates to conduct problems and chronic antisocial behavior, and assessment/intervention techniques for individuals with externalizing psychopathology. More recently, my burgeoning research interests include the intersections of temperament (CU traits), externalizing, and internalizing on trajectories for suicidality and trauma exposure/reactions. Additionally, I am passionate about conducting culturally minded research that examines shared and differential mechanisms across cultural identity factors related to sex, gender, race/ethnicity, and nationality, among others.
