The results show that people with intellectual disabilities are highly interested in tourism: to see different places, to have new experiences, and for their hedonic enjoyment. However, this interest is always subject to being accompanied, either by their family or by a group of peers with professional support. The main barriers identified respond to structural issues, such as the lack of cognitive accessibility or the lack of knowledge and training of tourism services staff about their needs, exacerbating prejudices towards this group.

It critically examines the societal and neoliberal norms that perpetuate discrimination and marginalization, advocating for a more inclusive understanding of diversity. By intertwining personal narrative with social critique, the study contributes to the discourse on disability, challenging the prevailing medical-rehabilitative model and calling for a reevaluation of the concepts of normalcy and capability.

Despite international commitments to inclusive education, the reality shows persistent segregation and discrimination against students with disabilities. The study critiques the ableism view that marginalizes those not fitting the normative ideal and proposes strategies for a genuine inclusive educational system.

First, it presents the Deaf Community as a minority language and discriminated group, with their own sense of identity that demands recognition and inclusion. Second, on the basis of the study of the technical and human hotel resources, the perception of the ac-commodation experience is compared and analyzed through the narratives of the two social groups studied, that is, the Deaf clients, and the hotel staff. In addition to pointing out the strengths and weaknesses that the place offers as an accessible space for Deaf people, the objective is to unmask the social discourses and the logics that sustain the audism still prevailing in our society

It emphasizes personal creation in storytelling, influenced by the interaction with the interviewer, and how narrating a life can construct identity and evoke emotions related to traumas or taboos. The individual is placed at the center of the study, not only as a subject but also as a collaborator in creating outcomes. Finally, ethical considerations are discussed, stressing respect for the study subject, the importance of defining our relationship with them, and the need to integrate professional ethics fundamentally into research

What anthropologists search for is an understanding of the vision that the people under study have of their own existence and the expression of this in the social field, that is to say, culture. For this reason, and stemming from the conviction that being a transhumant has as an identity that demands its study, and animated by the urgency that generates the loss or transformation of a lifestyle, we consider that the best way to discover the shepherd’s universe is collecting oral stories. The shepherd is no longer a study object – he becomes the protagonist of a life that is unique and unrepeatable, and, simultaneously, he is the voice of the social and cultural group which he belongs to.
