Mammography equipment, is able to take breast radiographies, and is specially designed for it. Quality Control and Quality Assurance, provides a guarantee for the best possible image quality with an acceptable radiation dose. Threshold contrast visibility is one of several tests used in quality control, with international recognition for the acceptance of the system. This test is possible thanks to image processing of the CDMAM (Contrast-Detail Mammography) Phantom. This paper presents a new algorithm, called MIQ (MammoIQ), for evaluating the CDMAM phantom used in digital mammography. The method consists on evaluating each cell using Mathematical Morphology and digital image processing techniques to determine the eccentric disks. Granulometry concepts are introduced for the CDMAM phantom, pattern spectrum and size distribution. The results are compared with the CDCOM software and a human o...

These open a broad of new paradigms which improve the rehabilitation process, robotic hardware, virtual reality system and others. Particularly, Virtual Reality systems are notable for having a high interaction with the user based on real-time responsive actions. In rehabilitation, these systems are oered as

This work incorporates contour detection and volume generation modules, eliminating the need of using expensive and sophisticated commercial software tools, which procedures are not familiar to the natural user, the surgeon. The new NSKS version reduces the workflow of the volume generation to only one phase. Using Computational Tomography (CT) data, the application shows a D reconstruction of the knee articulation, providing a precise spatial orientation and additional information about physical parameters e.g. load and tension that guarantees the correct insertion of the prosthetic component. The system is not invasive and does not require any mechanical devices that cause more traumas to the patient.

In Virtual Reality, data gloves are widely used as input devices for its capability to interact with the computer for application development. Currently, there are many such devices, which are offered by specialized commercial companies at high costs. Nevertheless, in recent years low-cost solutions for construction and software development kits for data gloves have been available. This paper presents the design and development of a low-cost data glove system to be used in virtual reality applications based on finger movements. The design of the glove is presented as a prototype based on computer vision algorithms in order to determine the relative position of the fingers. The manufactured data glove requires only inexpensive materials and a simple webcam for motion tracking. In the performed tests, our solution shows good results in the task of tracking the movement of each finger in a 3D space

As well, surgeon movements are amplified and therefore they must be accurate and smooth. Moreover, the surgeon has to deal with the fulcrum effect, and learn how to manipulate instruments in a 3D space based only in 2D images. Therefore, training in
