Abstract In order to encompass the multidisciplinary field of information architecture, mechanical engineering, and behavioral phenomena of climatology, computer simulation stands out as one of the tools for assessing energy expenditure. Thus, in order to consolidate the use of a thermo-energetic simulation program in the process of labeling for energy efficiency in buildings in Braz...

According to the National Energy Plan 2030, buildings energy consumption is projected to grow 3.7% per year by 2030. Thus, understanding of the architectural variables that influence the consumption of buildings has significant importance to contribute to the reduction of the expected energy demand for these buildings. The aim of this work is, therefore, the analysis of the architectural variables in the 102 office buildings of medium and large electricity consumption in the city of Belo Horizonte for which the monthly consumption per square meter was obtained. Then, the sample was segmented considering the following parameters: air conditioning system type, window-to-wall ratio, existence of glass facades, average absorptance of the walls, type of glass, existence of solar protection and construction decade. This segmentation was statistically treated using the frequency of occurrence of the listed building features and their influence on consumption of the sample was analyzed. The results indicate that naturally conditioned or mixed-mode air conditioned system buildings consume up to 58.7% less electricity per area in comparison with buildings with central conditioning systems in the city. This is explained by the fact that Belo Horizonte is a city with a mild climate with high percentage of comfort hours when natural ventilation is used. This discussion becomes important once it is believed that the analysis of such data can contribute to presenting guidelines to designers and legislative bodies to improve the building design decisions in order to achieve lower electricity consumption in buildings.

The main purpose of this article is the analysis, compared with real consumption data, of the influence of design decisions on the energy consumption of a non-residential building in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. For the achievement of this project, it was necessary to identify commercial buildings types and their typical monthly energy consumption. A hybrid building was taken as a study case and results show that for this type of building equipment and architectural decisions may bring an average decrease of 32 % on energy consumption.

However, factors such as municipality urban legislation parameters associated with topographic terrain conditions often impaired the daylight admission. This work evaluated the terrain slope over the daylight admission in two interiors environments
of a residential building with multiple floors typically founded in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State. The
analysis addressed the daylighting autonomy evaluation based on the RTQ-R, a Federal regulation, and on the municipality urban regulation in addition with three variables combination: the longitudinal terrain slope,
the vertical location of the unit and the four main geographic orientations (North, South, East and West). The method of analysis determined a model of building design and its contiguous built neighborhoods to simulate daylight access using the Daysim version 3.1-2012 software computer. The analysis of results presents a portion of 52% of simulated interior environmental not meeting the daylight autonomy requirements. It was verified that longitudinal terrain slope and the unit verticality location associated with specifics urban
parameters as lateral and back constructive constraints exert a greater influence on the daylight autonomy than the geographical orientation. The main contribution of this work was the assertion that the daylighting municipality regulation need to be reviewed prioritizing inclusion of determinants such as slope of land associated with lateral and back constructive limits

Nowadays, there is an increase in the reuse of heritage interest buildings. This study aims to analyze the use of natural lighting in a historic house located at Alvares Cabral Avenue, 414 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and current headquarters of the architecture firm Gustavo Penna Arquiteto & Associados. The centenary house in eclectic style has undergone renovations inside to adapt to its new use. Aiming at evaluating the use of natural lighting in this adapted building, computer simulations were carried out using Daysim and Relux software, as well as measurements on the site and analyzes for later interventions propositions. The stydy allowed to infer that the quality of a daylighted space is not only due to the amount of light but also to its adequate distribution according to the space needs.

The benchmarking analysis classifies buildings according to their energy consumption, contributing to identify buildings in which there may be opportunities for energy savings. Nevertheless, the implementation of national benchmarking models is compromised by the lack of available data for analysis. Therefore, this paper proposes to verify the accuracy of the simplified estimation of constructive variables necessary to create a benchmarking of commercial towers. The present study presents a comparison between measured constructive data obtained from simplified assessment methods and data from architectural plans obtained with the local city hall, considered more precise. The evaluated data refer to total floor area, volume, façade area and window-to-wall-ratio of buildings in Belo Horizonte, MG. From dispersion graphics analysis, indicating the correlation coefficient R2, calculations of the mean error deviation (MBE) and mean square error deviation (RMSE), it was possible to conclude that this simplified assessment can be a satisfactory strategy for obtaining data from buildings, showing low error rates for the analysis of the consumption benchmarking of commercial buildings.
