Nevertheless, current study had generated a model by adding reading proficiency and reading self-efficacy. This research aimed to explore the co-relations between reading anxiety, reading strategies and self-efficacy in English as a foreign language. Four different adapted tools were brought together to form a comprehensive survey questionnaire in order to collect data from undergraduate university students in Pakistan. Two-hundred and forty participants responded to the survey by using convenient sampling technique. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 22 version. A set of various tests were applied to test the generated hypotheses. The results suggest that reading anxiety is a constant factor, but students utilize their reading strategies to decrease the anxiety issues. Overall, a positive correlation was identified and none of the variable was insignificant. This research is likely to help EFL teachers to explore students’ beliefs about effective reading strategies.

Women's objectification in western culture has been studied extensively, and a new field of feminist scholars has arisen [3] (See Basow et al., 2007). In Pakistan, however women's objectification in television advertisements has earned little recognition [2] (See Baldissarri et al., 2020). Nevertheless, it is very essential to analyze that how a woman is portrayed in the Pakistani television advertisements, according to the perception of Pakistani television industry a woman's success is determined by her physical attractiveness (her white complexion, flawless skin, long and bouncing hair and the outfits that are skin tight) [13] (See Karsay, 2020); To pinpoint how chauvinist media produced objective representations of feminine appearance, we apply qualitative methodology (critical discourse analysis). We assert that the portal of a consummate woman (as presented in the electronic media) downgrades women to a mere object, leisure, sex appealing thing rather than a human being and living creator with emotions and feelings [4] (See Briñol et al., 2017). We argue in the study that increasing the physical exposure of famine beauty is harmful to women in particular and society in general because it allows them to pursue acceptance in males' fantasized world.

As such languages embed in them identity, culture and ideology of the people it is penned down about. Linked to religious identity of Muslims pre-and post-partition Urdu saw its rise in religious and Sufi writings. But with the rise of Hindu nationalism and decline of Muslim rule in the sub-continent it suffered pangs of estrangement. Anita Desai's 'In Custody' pen-pictures Urdu which is metaphorically destined to death in India. Publication year of the book coincides with the death of a renowned poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz which metaphorically reinforces death of Urdu. Deven who interviews Nur, famous poet of Urdu so that shreds of the language can be preserved. Her novel artistically and beautifully blends realistic elements rooted in history and sham narrative elements. The present paper investigates cultural metaphoricity of Urdu in Desai's novel 'In Custody' in the light of theories put forwarded by Norman Fairclough and Van Dijk concerning language, identity, and ideology.

In this study, recorded speeches of students of two classes were first rated for foreign speech accent and comprehensibility by two native, two non-native English listeners and an IELTS speaking examiner at pre-and post-accent reduction program stages. While one class (controlled group) was treated through conventional instruction, the second class (experimental group) got treatment through technology-based accent reduction instruction. It was found that the foreign speech accent interfered with comprehensibility and the phonological factors which accounted for foreign speech accent were both segmental and supra-segmental features. Most, importantly, the study discovered that ubiquitous nature of mobile applications served the EFL students with pronunciation training in the target language anywhere anytime. Lastly, this study recommends a Lingua Franca Core standard of comprehensibility while designing technology-based accent reduction programs specifically for EFL settings.

The analysis focused on three main categories, i.e. nature of interaction, quality of interaction and quality of language of interaction, to assess if using the application in classroom setting provided enhanced learning experience with greater support and exposure to target language. We categorised interaction types in the text data to determine the variety of interaction and used the numerical data to scaffold descriptive analysis of the quality of interaction as well as language. Analysis of the data revealed that the participants preferred using the application more for administrative communication, rather than discussing the subject matter and metalanguage, mainly due to unplanned use of the application, and the students therefore missing the opportunity to process the target language in real life. The findings referred to conversational theory in relation to theoretical and pedagogical implication of using WhatsApp more effectively, for enhanced learning opportunities in EFL classroom.

Data were collected using survey questionnaires to gather participants' pre-workshops and post-workshops responses followed by semi-structured interviews to understand aspects that determined the effect of the training workshops on teachers' pedagogy. The findings show that despite having sound pedagogy and teaching qualifications, participants could not successfully utilize their skills to incorporate technology effectively in their teaching. Institutional policies regarding technology integration and complex pacing guide which directed learning objectives and course materials could not give teachers the freedom to integrate learned skills in class, thus, the trainings provided to them became ineffective. The findings of the study suggest arranging training workshops according to the needs of the teachers who want to integrate technology in teaching. The study also recommends that an informed institutional policy regarding the use of technology is important which will ultimately result in effectiveness of the training workshops. Such decisions should be taken in accordance with the teaching

Reasons suggested for this is that technology's alignment with students' interests, as well as the stimulatingly transformative effect that technology can have on activities. Due to current students' preferences, authors now encourage incorporating mobile phones into the classroom, claiming that it will improve task engagement. However, this has not been empirically proven. Therefore, this mixed method quasi experimental study examined whether two groups completing identical activities, where one group using their smartphones, would have any difference in their engagement with the given activities. The results indicated that a statistically significant difference in the initiation times and distraction between experimental and control settings. Although no significant emotional difference was observed between the groups, the students themselves indicated a significant difference in their emotional attitude towards smartphone activities as compared to paper-based ones. The smartphone group managed to engage with activities, thereby overcoming many factors which affected the control groups' engagement levels.

The study uses questionnaires to gather feedback on the participants' pre and post training workshops, coupled by semi-structured interviews to highlight factors that determined the outcome of the training workshops. The findings show that despite the participants being qualified in pedagogy, they were unable to successfully use their expertise to beneficially incorporate technology in their teaching. The failure partly occurred due to apparent misunderstanding of confusing the knowledge of an application with the pedagogical skills of using the application, and partly due to the lack of concrete guidance by the administration on what and how to integrate technology in regular teaching. The study recommends to structure training workshops incorporating pedagogical handling of technology alongside technical training on how to use an application. The study also suggests that an institutional policy regarding the use of technology is inevitable to make such ventures successful. Such a policy needs to be devised and incorporated in regular syllabus, and should be clearly addressed in all training workshops on professional development.

It discusses the term political Islam, discourse issue of Islamic feminism, demonstrates the power of patriarchy and displays the Western project to support misogynist construction of Islam. It shows how the framework of Islamic feminism re-describes political Islam as a discursive establishment, simultaneously; it presents Esposito’s insights on the representation of political Islam in the West. Furthermore, this paper investigates the subjugated Living of women focussing on an understanding the misogynist attempts that marginalize women. A small critique of some postcolonial works illustrating the chauvinist character of identity politics in Muslim societies is used to explore the set assumptions. Theoretical model of Islamic feminism provides methodology for analyses of A Thousand Splendid Suns (2007). This paper concludes that this novel presents a flourishing view of Islam and reinforces the need to educate the West about the Islamic concept of peace, tolerance and gender indiscrimination.

Our learners are born and brought up with technology and they expect the same life style in their education system. As educators, we must recognize the potential for ameliorating student engagement inside and outside the classroom using these technologies. Facebook has been used as a tool in education throughout the world. With many of its advantages in the daily life of our students, there are many risks involved in it. Edmodo, on the other hand, is purely a personal learning network (PLN) developed by educators with education in mind. It has a similar interface to Facebook and is free of charge, it is easy to create an account or a classroom, and has simple functionality. It is very safe since an educator can limit who may join the group; e.g. students are invited explicitly.
This paper explores the numerous ways in which Edmodo can be an ideal tool for meeting the ever-growing challenges to support student motivation and participation inside and outside the classroom.
