I got a European PhD of Economics at the University of Seville in 2011. Also, I spent a period doing research at the University of Sussex where I became an Associate Tutor in 2015.
My research article “Institutional foundations of heritage railroads: the high cost of low trust in the preservation of merit goods”, Journal of Economic Issues 51(3), 2017, is an empirical inquiry into the nature and causes of the preservation and reuse of railway heritage from a comparative standpoint: it tries to answer the question of why this heritage is not preserved in Andalusia.
My research article “An Historical Background of Andalusia’s Unemployment: An Institutional Perspective”, Journal of Economic Issues 57 (3), 2023, is an epistemological endeavour aimed to generate institutional knowledge from an empirical case. I brought together elements such as violence, landownership, trust, and the role of the state from the point of view of Evolutionary Economics.

The origins of modern Andalusia go back to the Early Modern Age when most Iberian countries amalgamated into a single entity. However, unlike its northern counterparts Andalusia’s predecessor al-Andalus was a Muslim country and its incorporation into the Western European world was implemented through forced assimilation.
Five centuries after the conquest, the transposition of northern institutions in the south has resulted in a backward region with age-old problems of economic development and unemployment. I brought together elements such as violence, landownership, trust, and the role of the state from the point of view of evolutionary economics.

Comment on Political Economy in Andalusia from a global point of view
IA News, No. 145, 2008.
A new act for cultural heritage was passed in the Andalusian Parliament in 2007. It is advanced and high minded and considers (explicitly) for the first time industrial heritage as such. Unfortunately, as expected, the facts on the ground did not change at all; as in 2011 the railway has virtually disappeared.

Abstract
From the point of view of economic history and microeconomic theory, we carry out an enquiry on the state of the railway heritage in the province of Huelva; a survey on the likelihood of its reuse, with a cultural purpose as well as a tourist attraction. This heritage are the old narrow-gauge railways of the mining companies which were working the Iberian Pyrite Belt since the last quarter of the 19th century.
