In these diagnoses – a refinement of intervention is required, the user perspective overall is still underrepresented. Objectives In mental health Services there is an international trend toward recovery-orientated interventions, like Peer-support (PS) in formal mental health services. There is a raising but still insufficient evidence for it's benefits Aims In Germany this is the first try to implement and research peer support services area-wide in psychiatric facilities to provide a low-threshold service that aims individual recovery. This project forms a part of 'psychenet ', a project supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany during 2011 – 2014 and investigates the effect of peer support on psychosocial factors, functioning and hospital admissions. Methods In a controlled multi-centre-trial involving 10 hospital facilities in Hamburg − 216 in- and outpatients suffering from affective disorders, psychoses or personality disorders get randomized to either receive additional Peer-Support at most half a year aligned to individual requirements or treatment as usual. A mixed method repeated measurement analysis is conducted. Results Subjects refill questionnaires and get rated by clinicians at three points of measurement: Entry of the half year of intervention, after the intervention and in a six month follow up. Psychosocial Outcomes, global functioning, and in and outpatient days were assessed. There is a significant positive Effect for the PS of the primary outcome. Results will be presented

The key components of PS remain to be identified. This study aimed to develop a typology of components involved in one-to-one PS for adults in mental health services. A systematised review was performed to establish a preliminary long list of candidate components, followed by expert consultation (n = 21) to refine the list. Forty-two publications were full-text reviewed, comprising 26 trial reports, nine training manuals, and seven change model papers. Two hundred forty-two candidate components were identified, which were thematically synthesised to 16 components and eight sub-components, categorised into four themes: recruitment, preparation, practice, and PS worker wellbeing. Our typology can inform reflection and planning of PS practice, and allow more rigorous and synthesised studies, such as component network meta-ana...

However, little is known about what services are actually provided to support parents after the postnatal period in Europe.AimsTo explore existing services for parents with severe mental illness after the postnatal period across Europe.MethodsMental health specialists from major cities in nine European countries were asked to identify all health and social services available for mothers with psychosis after the postnatal period. They received two case vignettes and completed a data collection sheet for every identified service. International research reveals that the presence of a mental health condition increases the risk for detention and use of force by police officers. Stigmatization of individuals with mental health conditions as dangerous and unpredictable is assumed to have an impact on the likelihood of police use of force. The following study examines a trialogical intervention to reduce stigmatization of individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia in a police officer sample. METHOD 1318 police officers participated in a trialogical contact-based intervention with the aim to reduce stigmatizing attitudes and beliefs. Emotional reactions, stereotypes and social distance were assessed prior to and after the intervention in a one-group design. RESULTS Negative stereotypes were positively associated with social distance in individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia and were positively associated with anxiety. Dependent sample t-test revealed reduced anxiety towards individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, less negative stereotypes, and less social distance post intervention. All results were significant, and all effect sizes showed a small to moderate effect. CONCLUSIONS Trialogical contact-based, short-term anti-stigma interventions appear to reduce stigmatizing attitudes towards individuals with mental health conditions in a large police force sample. A missing control group is a key study limitation. Further research is needed to examine the effectiveness of the intervention in a randomized-controlled trial. However, the results clearly suggest that anti-stigma interventions could be beneficially introduced into police training.
