This paper appraises several experiences of migrants that are relevant, using different approaches, creating a link between food, cultural background and memory of migrants as well as looking at the sequential movement of food and its interactions as they affect migrants and their immediate environment, by reviewing extant kinds of literature in the global and African contexts. Migration and migrants are evident across the borders of countries around the universe. It was revealed that migrants are encumbered with different experiences-accepting and repelling alongside with memory effect in the course of migration, as it is glaring that there is a conglomerate between food, memory, and identity. Memory, therefore, has a cultural implication on migrants as it forms one of the bases of food consumption.

Thus far, the reforms seem to have introduced greater uncertainty into the market given increasing rates of price volatility. This study amongst other things therefore seeks to determine and model the responsiveness of rice supply to price risk in Nigeria. Statistical information on domestic and imported quantities of rice was obtained for 41 years (1970 to 2011) from various sources, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) database, Federal Ministry of Agriculture statistical bulletins, Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletins and National Bureau of Statistic (NBS). Data were analyzed using equilibrium output supply function, co-integration models, and vector autoregressive distributed lag model. Rice importation was statistically significant and changes in output were also responsive ...

This rural food production and urban area demand/consumption emphasises the need for rural-urban market linkages. This study employed mixed methods to investigate the role of road transport in the flow of food products from rural areas to the urban markets. Ten urban markets were sampled and 250 respondents from urban markets in Ibadan. The study revealed that household collaboration in the production and marketing of food produce exists in Ibadan. It was established that distance and transportation cost plays a vital role in supply volume, pricing, and delivery price. The variance in delivery cost is dependent on factors such as bargaining power, the season of the year, demand, destination, and road condition. In conclusion, improved roads condition and workable traffic policies that eliminate roadblocks are recommended.
