It was found that the effects of intention to perform and its classic antecedents on exams performance were mediated by implementation intentions with a considerable increase of amount of explained variance above the contribution of the constructs of TPB.Peer reviewe

In liquid societies of late modernity where pursuit of career in unstable and rapidly changing occupational structures is so difficult, motivation fueling vocational constructing behaviors appears to be a prerequisite of success. However, motivational processes are only half of the story. In order to overcome internal or external obstacles to a confident and peaceful reflection on their career development, individuals need more than ever to bring into play volition, that is, the capacity to regulate in difficult contexts psychological functions such as cognition, motivation, and emotion in order to determine which motivational tendencies related to career choice processes are implemented, when, where, and how. Motivation, volition et performances universitaires Résumé L’échec ou la réussite en première ann... more Motivation, volition et performances universitaires Résumé L’échec ou la réussite en première année universitaire est lié à des facteurs multiples et intriqués les uns dans les autres. Pour certains d’entre eux, cristallisés par l’ontogenèse individuelle, il n’y a guère, à partir de l’engagement dans une filière d’études supérieures, d’intervention psychopédagogique possible pour éviter l’éviction de cette filière : milieu socioéconomique d’origine, traits de personnalité, capacités cognitives de base, … Il en va autrement d’autres prédicteurs, qu’ils soient bien identifiés dans la littérature ou encore relativement obscurs dans les mécanismes qui expliquent leur effet sur la performance universitaire.
