Sięga do tradycji polskiej historiografii, by przypomnieć, jak wielcy poprzednicy widzieli to zadanie i jaką przede wszystkim lekcję wyciągali z historii Polski.
The author addresses the issue of the social responsibility of a historian and history as a science. He refers to the tradition of Polish historiography to recall how the great predecessors perceived this task and what lessons they drew from the history of Poland. He asks why history in certain circumstances becomes a burden for its history-makers, while in others, it shows its power, its causative power to change the world for the better. In the contemporary world, the power of history to influence our minds has been further increased by the digital revolution. It also affects the humanities and history, which for the younger generation is now exclusively e-History.

The author argues that political raison d’état requires Poland to pursue an active politics of history which should be addressed abroad, and proposes that its guiding ideas should be based on three grand narratives: (1) the fundamental role of ‘Solidarity Poland’ in the peaceful dismantling of the post-Yalta system in Europe, (2) the Europe of the Jagiellonian, and (3) the Europe of the Vasas, as constructs simultaneously geopolitical and civilizational, in which Poland performed an agential function.

Faza pierwsza obejmuje okres 1945-1948, gdy Łódź faktycznie odgrywała - zwłaszcza w pierwszych latach - rolę "zastępczej" stolicy. Cechował ją względny pluralizm środowiska historycznego i duży ferment intelektualny. Faza druga, trwająca do 1956 r., to okres stalinizacji polskiej historiografii, której ośrodek łódzki podlegał może jeszcze w większym stopniu niż inne. Fazy trzecia, trwająca do końca lat sześćdziesiątych, i czwarta, obejmująca lata siedemdziesiąte, to okresy "normalizacji", czyli powrotu do badań źródłowych i budowania własnej akademickiej tożsamości, oraz "stabilizacji", czyli zbudowania solidnego zaplecza kadrowego. Słowa kluczowe: łódzka szkoła historii historiografii, łódzka szkoła etnohistorii, łódzka szkoła historii stosunków międzynarodowych i dyplomacji, łódzka szkoła bizantynologii.

Serving as a staff offi cer, Bloch witnessed the fall of France in 1940 from the front line. This book is so interesting from the methodological point of view, because we are presented here with a historical source created by a historian, who additionally knows how an ideal type of historical evidence ought to be written. This French historian thought that history is also written to give contemporaries lessons on how to avoid the mistakes of the past. This is an important message of Strange Defeat.
"The Politicization/Mythologization of History or How Might Neuroscience (and Methodology) Suppor... more "The Politicization/Mythologization of History or How Might Neuroscience (and Methodology) Support the Researcher of the Contemporary History" The narratives created by historians with respect to events of the past serve not only the cognitive aims but may also be used in the current discourse of power and as such be referred to as ‘historical politics’. In such cases, the spotlight is no longer on the historical truth, but rather on the ability to legitimize the power exercised by one social group or political party over the rest of the society. The reason why one reaches for historical myth and politicizes historical narrative is that the emotions evoked in the process can access the mind of a common creator of history (homo historicus) much easier compared to historians’ refined analysis based on credible sources and proper methodology. From the perspective of historical politics, a historian – being a rational entity aware of its past (homo metahistoricus) – becomes something redundant, an obstacle that has to be silenced, suppressed, or removed. All that matters is homo historicus, as it is the ballot in his or her hand that will eventually determine winners and losers on election day. As is known, history written by the victors differs substantially from the one written by the defeated. Having diagnosed this way the situation relating to every historian aware of social responsibility of the results of historical studies, the author underlines that historical narrative may be applied to building both positive and negative social capital. The myth and politicization of history act toward dividing a community, rather than uniting it. There is no way to create an effective operating community without referring to past experiences, although when describing those experiences, it is very easy to fall into various traps of historical thinking. For this reason, neuroscience and methodology are of such great importance to the historian of 20th Century History.

Poland’s reception of White’s work has gone through different phases, from distancing to a period of fascination and eventual critical analysis, beginning with Topolski’s methodological school in the 1980s. Topolski played a major role in international debates on historical theory in the second half of the 20th century. The book’s second study is a rare opportunity for English-speaking audiences to engage with the thoughts of Pomian, a philosopher and historian of ideas who has both complemented and developed theories of historical cognition independently from White. The final chapter presents a study of the historical imagination in 21st-century Central and Eastern Europe through the work of novelist Tokarczuk, the winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature. In considering the contributions of these three thinkers, the book explores the active process by which the past becomes history and thus motivates contemporary actions and realities. By deconstructing and reconstructing contemporary theories of history, this research is a unique contribution to the historiography and the philosophy of history.

Trzy pierwsze studia poświęcam moim maîtrespenser: Jerzemu Topolskiemu, Zdzisławowi Cackowskiemu i Krzysztofowi Pomianowi. Leży potrzeba i wola koegzystencji”.

Pierwsza, O formach obecności historii w sferze publicznej, przynosi namysł, zebrany w dziesięciu szkicach/esejach, nad społeczną funkcją historii i odpowiedzialnością historyka, konfrontowany każdorazowo z aktualnym czasem Historii i historiografii, w jakim przyszło mi się wypowiadać. Druga, Metodologia a historiografia.

Interaktywny atlas historyczny. Aplikacja stanowi novum w polskiej przestrzeni edukacyjnej. Obecnie jest przeznaczona tylko na urządzenia mobilne. Zapewne wkrótce będzie ona migrować na inne platformy cyfrowe. Mobilność jest jednak zasadniczą jej wartością. Umożliwia samodzielną pracę nad materiałem historycznym, powiązanym z innymi dziedzinami wiedzy, w każdych warunkach, nawet poza szkołą i pod nieobecność nauczyciela.
Dzięki temu daje użytkownikom możliwość projektowania i doświadczania własnych sytuacji edukacyjnych, czyli odgrywania ról aktywnych uczestników procesu kształcenia.

Odezwa zjazdowa
Jubileuszowy XX Powszechny Zjazd Historyków Polskich zwołujemy do Lublina w 450. To be „-e”, or not to be. That is the question – oto realne pytanie i wybór, przed jakim staje dziś każdy historyk.

FAMILY STORIES AS A GENRE OF HISTORICAL WRITTING
Historie rodzinne Violetty Julkowskiej to monogr... more FAMILY STORIES AS A GENRE OF HISTORICAL WRITTING Historie rodzinne Violetty Julkowskiej to monografia z kilku powodów unikatowa. Ta cecha zbliża szereg współczesnych opowieści rodzinnych do pogranicza literackiego.

Zapraszam Państwa do obejrzenia i wysłuchania wywiadu z twórcami mobilnej aplikacji „Szlakami Polski Niepodległej – 1914-1922” – prof. dr hab. Janem Pomorskim, mgr Bartłomiejem Stolarzem i mgr Karolem Kasprowiczem.
Próbuje tworzyć język, w którym można opisać zachodzące w wyniku zwrotu cyfrowego zmiany i pojawiające się nowe zjawiska, trudne do pojęciowego uchwycenia w języku tradycyjnych nauk humanistycznych.
Humanistyka cyfrowa stawia przed humanistami całkowicie nowe wymagania w postaci kompetencji niezbędnych do poruszania się w cyfrowym świecie – nowych metod badawczych, nowych sposobów interpretacji danych, nowych sposobów prezentowania wyników badań.
Humanistyka cyfrowa podejmuje także wysiłki związane z refleksją nad procesami i praktykami nauczania w cyfrowym świecie – tworzenia i wykorzystywania cyfrowych narzędzi do edukacji szkolnej i akademickiej.

The author addresses the issue of the social responsibility of a historian and history
as a science. It also affects the humanities and history, which for the younger generation is now exclusively e-History.
demokratyzacji i poluzowania kryteriów publikacyjnych i awansowych.
antropologię (by wymienić tylko te, zaprzyjaźnione z historią, nauki społeczne).
historii, wspierając historyka w lepszym zrozumieniu i skonceptualizowaniu własnego przedmiotu badania.
Słowa kluczowe: łódzka szkoła historii historiografii, łódzka szkoła etnohistorii, łódzka szkoła historii stosunków międzynarodowych i dyplomacji, łódzka szkoła bizantynologii.
White’a w polskiej teorii i metodologii historii. Preferowane przeze mnie

The narratives created by historians with respect to events of the past serve not only the cognitive aims but may also be used in the current discourse of power and as such be referred to as ‘historical politics’.
The author addresses the issue of the social responsibility of a historian and history
as a science. It also affects the humanities and history, which for the younger generation is now exclusively e-History.
demokratyzacji i poluzowania kryteriów publikacyjnych i awansowych.
antropologię (by wymienić tylko te, zaprzyjaźnione z historią, nauki społeczne).
historii, wspierając historyka w lepszym zrozumieniu i skonceptualizowaniu własnego przedmiotu badania.
Słowa kluczowe: łódzka szkoła historii historiografii, łódzka szkoła etnohistorii, łódzka szkoła historii stosunków międzynarodowych i dyplomacji, łódzka szkoła bizantynologii.
White’a w polskiej teorii i metodologii historii. Preferowane przeze mnie
oretyków historii odkrywano White’a. Po drugie, spróbuję poddać namy-
słowi kwestię, co mu zawdzięczamy, na ile wpłynął on na rodzimą teorię i metodologię historii, by na koniec – idąc tropami, jakie nam pozostawił – zarysować możliwe pola dalszej poznawczej eksploracji.

through the work of novelist Tokarczuk, the winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature. In considering the contributions of these three thinkers, the book explores the active process by which the past becomes history and thus motivates contemporary actions and realities.
By deconstructing and reconstructing contemporary theories of history, this research is a unique contribution to the historiography and the philosophy of history.
przemyśliwanie historyczności bytu, odnajdując w nich jakże często przeczucia i myśli własne.
Leży potrzeba i wola koegzystencji”.
rowych i czasopismach epoki przedcyfrowej, pewnie przeminęłyby bez-
przede wszystkim moim kolegom z „sekty metodologicznej” i moim uczniom, którzy wspólnie przekonali mnie o sensowności takiego projektu.
Pierwsza, O formach obecności historii w sferze publicznej, przynosi namysł, zebrany w dziesięciu szkicach/esejach, nad społeczną funkcją historii i odpowiedzialnością historyka, konfrontowany każdorazowo z aktualnym czasem Historii i historiografii, w jakim przyszło mi się wypowiadać. Druga, Metodologia a historiografia.
znaję – głównym źródłem inspiracji i zaproszeniem do dyskusji zawsze
Dzięki temu daje użytkownikom możliwość projektowania i doświadczania własnych sytuacji edukacyjnych, czyli odgrywania ról aktywnych uczestników procesu kształcenia.

To be „-e”, or not to be. That is the question – oto realne pytanie i wybór, przed jakim staje dziś każdy historyk.
Historie rodzinne Violetty Julkowskiej to monografia z kilku powodów unikatowa. Ta cecha zbliża szereg współczesnych opowieści rodzinnych do pogranicza literackiego.

Zapraszam Państwa do obejrzenia i wysłuchania wywiadu z twórcami mobilnej aplikacji „Szlakami Polski Niepodległej – 1914-1922” – prof. dr hab. Janem Pomorskim, mgr Bartłomiejem Stolarzem i mgr Karolem Kasprowiczem.
Próbuje tworzyć język, w którym można opisać zachodzące w wyniku zwrotu cyfrowego zmiany i pojawiające się nowe zjawiska, trudne do pojęciowego uchwycenia w języku tradycyjnych nauk humanistycznych.
Humanistyka cyfrowa stawia przed humanistami całkowicie nowe wymagania w postaci kompetencji niezbędnych do poruszania się w cyfrowym świecie – nowych metod badawczych, nowych sposobów interpretacji danych, nowych sposobów prezentowania wyników badań.
Humanistyka cyfrowa podejmuje także wysiłki związane z refleksją nad procesami i praktykami nauczania w cyfrowym świecie – tworzenia i wykorzystywania cyfrowych narzędzi do edukacji szkolnej i akademickiej.
