Most regional capitals of the conventus, ie Tude, Auria, Aquae Flaviae, Pinetum, Tongobriga, Cale is located in the centre or very close to large mining explorations, mainly auriferous. In the surrounding of Bracara Augusta there are also mines. The problem that arises is to know if these cities were founded as part of a consistent plan or developed due to its positioning, highlighting the remaining capitals of civitas. The aim is to discuss the convent limits, including the East, trying thus to draft a conventus synthesis map. portuguesA analise comparada dos recursos mineiros auriferos do conventus de Bracara Augusta com os principais nucleos urbanos e actualmente possivel devido aos trabalhos disponiveis.

Since 2004 new field works have been developed in the monument, such as excavation, surveys in order to analyse the internal organization of the settlement and field walks in the surrounding territory. It is located at the middle Ave valley, in a central point of the «large castros» area, at almost the same distance between the Minho River (north) and the Douro River (south). Briteiros is, as well, positioned halfway between the coastline and the inner mountain ranges. Paradigmatic monument of the «Castro Culture», Briteiros has a total area of 24 hectares inside his walls, from which 7 hectares were already excavated. Meanwhile, for a better understanding of its dimensions and morphological complexity, it’s important to analyse the territorial insertion of the settlement, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). So, it was applied a location analysis to Briteiros and, with a complementary and comparative meaning, to the Sabroso and Santa Iria hillforts, using different patterns. There were analyzed the following variables in GIS: visibility, accessibility and relative altitude. The first objective of this study was to explore some ideas about the territorial dynamics of the Late Iron Age-Roman transition communities in the middle Ave valley, using GIS tools.
