BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Land-based aquaculture operations, at present, are intensively conduct... more BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Land-based aquaculture operations, at present, are intensively conducted to meet the ever-growing demand for food consumption. Floating net cages are one of the traditional methods commonly used by Indonesian fishermen for river fish farming. Increased human activities along the Musi River and coastline have resulted in pollution and waste in the river waters and fluctuating water quality. Yet, floating net cage owners still manually assess the water quality. This study aims to develop an early warning system for water quality and create a decision-making program as a reference for fishermen to relocate floating net cages when the river water quality deteriorates. METHODS: The device was tested at 39 locations within a radius of approximately 3400 meters, and the distance between locations varied between 55 and 334 meters. The river was divided into three sections: the river coast, the middle section, and the other river coast. Water quality sensors were placed at a depth of 0-20 centimeters from the surface of the Musi River, with measurement durations at each location ranging from 1 to 40 minutes. Direct measurements of the Musi River's water quality were obtained by monitoring the water quality using an internet-based computer application. A decision-making Python program utilizing fuzzy logic was then executed to evaluate the suitability of the river water quality for fish cultivation. The program's input variables comprise water temperature, potential of hydrogen, and dissolved oxygen sensor data. Meanwhile, the program output recommends floating net cage owners to either "Stay in position" or "Move." Water quality warnings that exceed the upper and lower threshold limits are displayed using light-emitting diode indicators and a buzzer. FINDINGS: Overall, the water quality values of the Musi River at the test locations generally indicated stable and suitable conditions for river fish cultivation. The average water quality values were 29.20 degrees Celsius for temperature, 3.98 milligrams per liter for dissolved oxygen, and a potential of hydrogen of 6.42. From all the data obtained during the decision-making program, 36 locations suggested that the floating net cages should "Stay in position." Meanwhile, the three remaining locations were recommended to "Move" as they exhibited poor water quality, with potential of hydrogen values below 6. Field observations indicated that these locations were situated near residential areas, factories/industries, and tributaries, which are highly susceptible to waste and pollution. The output of the decision-making program correlated with the issued warnings by the water quality warning indicators when the pH value exceeded the lower threshold limit. CONCLUSION: The fuzzy logic method implemented in the Python program for decision-making regarding the relocation of floating net cages in river fish farming revealed the fluctuating water quality conditions of the Musi River within a specific time duration. These conditions correlated with the proximity of the water bodies to pollution sources such as residential areas, factories, and tributaries. The program's output classified the status of the floating net cages into two conditions: "Stay in position" or "Move." The decision-making application to relocate floating net cages for fish farming in rivers provides a solution for fishermen as the resulting program decisions give the same indication as the reading value of the water quality sensor.

Climate Changes that are currently uncertain and beyond prediction encourage the application of technology to increase fishery production and modernization. The purpose of this study is to design a water quality monitoring system that can be monitored remotely in real-time using an internet-based smartphone/PC application. It is equipped with an early warning system to monitor the water quality set by the upper and lower thresholds. This device is based on Robotdyn Uno Wifi R3 ESP8266 with IoT technology. The alarm system uses a buzzer and LED indicator to make it understandable to fishermen. We tested the device in two stages. Results showed that the alarm system responds to all changes in water quality that exceeds the set threshold. Bintan is one of Indonesia's islands, consisting of nearly 2408 small islands and directly adjace... more Bintan is one of Indonesia's islands, consisting of nearly 2408 small islands and directly adjacent to Singapore and Malaysia. The strategic geographic location and many small islands and supported by 95% of the sea area give Bintan Island an advantage in developing the marine aquaculture sector. This study aims to apply remote sensing analysis to collect comprehensive information on the strategic Marine Aquaculture Zone (MAZ) in the eastern part of Bintan Island. The data used in this study were the concentration of chlorophyll-a (Chla) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from MODIS level-3 with a resolution of 4 km from January to December 2019. The pre-processing data analysis on SST and Chl-a concentrations was used SeaDas software to ensure the results of the data projections in the form of the World Geodetic System 84 (WGS84) format. The data processing stage uses ER Mapper software to project the SST distribution and Chl-a concentration into a contour. Post-processing data analysis was used ArcGIS software to determine the results of crossing the SST contour and Chl-a combination to obtain the optimal potential location for the Marine Aquaculture Zone (MAZ). Image data processing shows the lowest potential marine aquaculture location was in Bintan Island in West Season with 202 MAZ. The highest potential location for marine aquaculture on Bintan Island in North Season with 584 MAZ. The results showed the potential location for marine aquaculture locations in Bintan Island was widely distributed, and most of the locations far from the coastline of eastern Bintan Island. This study indicates that the east part of Bintan Island has the potential to be implemented for marine aquaculture areas to develop sustainable marine aquaculture production.

The harvested Sandfishes sometimes marketed dried, but most of it marketed fresh because the drying process took a long time using the sun heat, and needs fully standby if use heat from firewood. Both methods have conditions that depend on nature; if in rainy weather, the sun heat is unavailable and firewood becomes wet, that makes fire unavailable so that the drying process should stop. The alternative energy sources on the small island potentially used for drying the Sandfishes are the communal electricity, which commonly operates for 12 hours, and the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) 3 Kg that is regularly using for daily cooking purposes. Using electric energy and LPG for drying can apply to an oven. Drying experiment results at a temperature of 50 0C for 12 hours in an electric oven gained average weight shrinkage of 83.9%, and LPG gained an average weight loss of 87.8% were significantly different based on the Independent Samples t- Test. Cost for 12 hours of electricity consumption is IDR 3,960 lower than the LPG consumption, which is IDR 5,833. Oven production capacity is 32 fresh Sandfishes weight of 500 g, which produces Sandfishes dry weight around 2 kg within the selling price class of IDR 2.2 million/kg.

No navigation device that is able to identify the type and position of the accident is the cause of inappropriateness in providing emergency assistance. The purpose of this study is to develop a device that could provide information on the type of emergency and the latitude and longitude positions during an emergency. This emergency information system uses GPS devices Neo 6MV2 to determine the coordinates of the accident and SIM900A. To send the type of emergency identified through four (4) push buttons. Red push button for fire, yellow for collision, green for leakage and flooding, and blue for ship grounding. The device is equipped with LED indicator according to the color push button to indicate the type of emergency on the ship. The results of reading the push button will be processed using the Arduino Mega. Latitude and longitude coordinates are displayed on the LCD. As an indicator of sending the ship's emergency information message, the buzzer is used and the information delivery time is 5:32 seconds on average.

This study aimed to design the monitoring of water acidity and turbidity using a microcontroller based on the Internet of Things. The system device uses a pH sensor and a turbidity sensor to measure the water's edge and turbidity. The results show that the water acidity and turbidity monitor has been successfully designed using OLED and GSM displayed on the Thingspeak platform. This display shows the results of testing the pH value with an average accuracy level of 96.34% and the turbidity sensor 97.33%. The monitoring data transmission results using the GSM network to the Thingspeak platform were 95.83% in the first test and 90.97% in the second test.

Pengujian dilakukan pada palka dengan dimensi 90 cm x 65 cm x 50 cm. Monitoring perubahan nilai pH secara real time dilakukan melalui LCD dan LabVIEW. Perangkat ini dilengkapi dengan indikator LED yang dapat mengindikasikan kondisi dari relay diluar dari perangkat lunak LaBVIEW. Bintan is one of Indonesia's islands, consisting of nearly 2408 small islands and directly adjace... more Bintan is one of Indonesia's islands, consisting of nearly 2408 small islands and directly adjacent to Singapore and Malaysia. The strategic geographic location and many small islands and supported by 95% of the sea area give Bintan Island an advantage in developing the marine aquaculture sector. This study aims to apply remote sensing analysis to collect comprehensive information on the strategic Marine Aquaculture Zone (MAZ) in the eastern part of Bintan Island. The data used in this study were the concentration of chlorophyll-a (Chla) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from MODIS level-3 with a resolution of 4 km from January to December 2019. The pre-processing data analysis on SST and Chl-a concentrations was used SeaDas software to ensure the results of the data projections in the form of the World Geodetic System 84 (WGS84) format. The data processing stage uses ER Mapper software to project the SST distribution and Chl-a concentration into a contour. Post-processing data analysis was used ArcGIS software to determine the results of crossing the SST contour and Chl-a combination to obtain the optimal potential location for the Marine Aquaculture Zone (MAZ). Image data processing shows the lowest potential marine aquaculture location was in Bintan Island in West Season with 202 MAZ. The highest potential location for marine aquaculture on Bintan Island in North Season with 584 MAZ. The results showed the potential location for marine aquaculture locations in Bintan Island was widely distributed, and most of the locations far from the coastline of eastern Bintan Island. This study indicates that the east part of Bintan Island has the potential to be implemented for marine aquaculture areas to develop sustainable marine aquaculture production.

The harvested Sandfishes sometimes marketed dried, but most of it marketed fresh because the drying process took a long time using the sun heat, and needs fully standby if use heat from firewood. Both methods have conditions that depend on nature; if in rainy weather, the sun heat is unavailable and firewood becomes wet, that makes fire unavailable so that the drying process should stop. The alternative energy sources on the small island potentially used for drying the Sandfishes are the communal electricity, which commonly operates for 12 hours, and the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) 3 Kg that is regularly using for daily cooking purposes. Using electric energy and LPG for drying can apply to an oven. Drying experiment results at a temperature of 50 0C for 12 hours in an electric oven gained average weight shrinkage of 83.9%, and LPG gained an average weight loss of 87.8% were significantly different based on the Independent Samples t- Test. Cost for 12 hours of electricity consumption is IDR 3,960 lower than the LPG consumption, which is IDR 5,833. Oven production capacity is 32 fresh Sandfishes weight of 500 g, which produces Sandfishes dry weight around 2 kg within the selling price class of IDR 2.2 million/kg.

No navigation device that is able to identify the type and position of the accident is the cause of inappropriateness in providing emergency assistance. The purpose of this study is to develop a device that could provide information on the type of emergency and the latitude and longitude positions during an emergency. This emergency information system uses GPS devices Neo 6MV2 to determine the coordinates of the accident and SIM900A. To send the type of emergency identified through four (4) push buttons. Red push button for fire, yellow for collision, green for leakage and flooding, and blue for ship grounding. The device is equipped with LED indicator according to the color push button to indicate the type of emergency on the ship. The results of reading the push button will be processed using the Arduino Mega. Latitude and longitude coordinates are displayed on the LCD. As an indicator of sending the ship's emergency information message, the buzzer is used and the information delivery time is 5:32 seconds on average.

This study aimed to design the monitoring of water acidity and turbidity using a microcontroller based on the Internet of Things. The system device uses a pH sensor and a turbidity sensor to measure the water's edge and turbidity. The results show that the water acidity and turbidity monitor has been successfully designed using OLED and GSM displayed on the Thingspeak platform. This display shows the results of testing the pH value with an average accuracy level of 96.34% and the turbidity sensor 97.33%. The monitoring data transmission results using the GSM network to the Thingspeak platform were 95.83% in the first test and 90.97% in the second test.

Pengujian dilakukan pada palka dengan dimensi 90 cm x 65 cm x 50 cm. Monitoring perubahan nilai pH secara real time dilakukan melalui LCD dan LabVIEW. Perangkat ini dilengkapi dengan indikator LED yang dapat mengindikasikan kondisi dari relay diluar dari perangkat lunak LaBVIEW. We need a plan, especially in data communication and control systems in the mini boat in order to transmit the data to the control center. Communication and control systems based on 8535 (microcontroller) and Zig Bee Pro is a remote control technique that can be applied using a laptop as a central control. Operator as the controller can determine the speed, direction and control other actuators simply by using a laptop. Data transmission systems from the laptop to the mini boat sent via antenna Zig Bee Pro devices that exist in the control center. The received signal at the receiver mini boat will then be processed on Atmega and will move the actuator that of the mini boat according commands sent by the control center. alternative energy sources on the small island potentially used for drying the Sandfishes are the
communal electricity, which commonly operates for 12 hours, and the Liquid Petroleum Gas
(LPG) 3 Kg that is regularly using for daily cooking purposes. Using electric energy and LPG
for drying can apply to an oven. Drying experiment results at a temperature of 50 0C for 12
hours in an electric oven gained average weight shrinkage of 83.9%, and LPG gained an
average weight loss of 87.8% were significantly different based on the Independent Samples t-
Test. Cost for 12 hours of electricity consumption is IDR 3,960 lower than the LPG
consumption, which is IDR 5,833. Oven production capacity is 32 fresh Sandfishes weight of
500 g, which produces Sandfishes dry weight around 2 kg within the selling price class of IDR
2.2 million/kg.

ikan Kerapu yaitu suhu air. Suhu air yang tinggi di siang hari
dan sangat rendah di malam hari menjadi permasalahan dalam
budidaya ikan Kerapu. Pada penelitian ini, akan dirancang
bangun sistem kontrol suhu otomatis pada kolam ikan Kerapu
menggunakan mikrokontroler dan perangkat lunak LabVIEW.
Parameter suhu air ikan Kerapu berkisar 240C sampai 310C.
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mempertahankan suhu air kolam
sesuai dengan parameter suhu ikan Kerapu secara otomatis
menggunakan metode sistem kontrol loop tertutup. Parameter
suhu dijadikan sebagai nilai setpoint pada mikrokontroler
dalam mempertahankan suhu air yang hasilnya diumpan
balikkan ke Arduino untuk mengendalikan relay yang
terhubung dengan peltier dan heater. Hasil penelitian yang
didapatkan bahwa perangkat penelitian dapat
mempertahankan suhu air kolam sesuai parameter. Hal ini
didapatkan ketika sensor DS18B20 membaca nilai suhu <250C,
maka perangkat heater bekerja dan ketika suhu >300C, maka
perangkat peltier bekerja. Hasil pembacaan sensor 250C < suhu
< 300C, maka perangkat peltier dan heater tidak bekerja. Selain
itu, perangkat penelitian dapat mengontrol suhu pada 100 liter
air secara otomatis dengan menaikan suhu air sekitar 70C dan
menurunkan suhu air sekitar 2,10C selama 1 jam. Hasil
keseluruhan ditampilkan dalam bentuk tampilan visual dan
