ABSTRACT: Known in Brazil mostly due to his novel Il deserto dei Tartati (The Tartar Steppe) (1940), Italian writer Dino Buzzati also worked with other types of artistic productions, in such a way that he saw himself as a painter that wrote as a hobby. In the literary field, Buzzati was an author of chronacles, short stories, novels, poetry and plays. When it comes to his short stories, there is a vast production of fantastic short stories, which made Buzzati be criticized because they did not fit the neorrealistic movement of Italy back then. In this work, we will highlight two of his short stories: “Eppure battono alla porta” (“And Yet They Are Knocking at Your Door”) and “I topi” (“The rats”). These two narratives were selected due to plot simillitudes, which allows a dialogue in this aspect. Nevertheless, due to this common point, it is possible to trace a parallel through the lenses of the mode fantastic. Therefore, we will work with both short stories using theories related to the mode fantastic, mainly Remo Ceserani's Il fantastico (The fantastic) (1996). This study was financed in part by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Brasil (CAPES) - Finance Code 001.

Mediation, collaboration and shared reflection in Teletandem: notes on the different types of mediation sessions at the Unesp/FCLAr Teletandem ABSTRACT: Teletandem is a form of practicing and learning languages in Tandem, that pairs learners of foreign languages in order for them to talk to each other using the languages they are fluent. In Teletandem, partners talk using resources that allow using camera, microphone and instant messaging, among other tools. During the meetings, the participant's interactions must be divided in two parts, so both of them will be able to practice their target-language. In Teletandem Brasil Project, Brazilian learners have not only a moment to interact with their partners, but also a mediation session, in which they will tell their impressions to a mediator, that will try to make them reflect on what they said. In the College of Letters and Sciences of the São Paulo State University at Araraquara (Faculdade de Ciências e Letras da Unesp de Araraquara-Unesp/FCLAr), mediation sessions were already made through reflective journals and group conversations. It was noted that, with these different types of mediation, there are changes In the way the participants report their experiences and how they think about them. This also makes the mediator deal with the mediation in a different way. Therefore, this paper presents an attempt to analyse how the configuration of the session mediation shapes the way how participants make their reports, how they reflect about them and how the mediator deals with it.

ABSTRACT: One of the remarkable aspects of Dino Buzzati’s literary work is the way the Italian author inserts anguish in his writings. His short stories are usually studied as fantastic narratives because they often bring a supernatural element. This element, in its turn, is what makes the characters experience an anguishing inquietude. However, another possible aspect that calls attention in buzzatian short narratives is the uncommon as something that makes anguish appear, as the uncommon is all that escapes from one’s reality. When going through an uncommon experience, a person sees all his or her truths, components that form the basis of his concept of ‘real’, disappear. One’s solid reality, therefore, is diluted, which makes this person experience the anguish caused by something strange. Given that the essay ‘Das Unheimliche’ (translated as ‘The uncanny’), by Sigmund Freud, deals precisely with what is strange and that it is one of the fundamental bases for the study of the uncommon, this essay will work as an attempt to associate the Freudian theory of the strange (that is, the uncanny) with the uncommon and the fear in the short story 'Eppure battono alla porta' written by Italian writer Dino Buzzati.
