There is a trend towards greater liberalization on the global level. Ethical evaluation creates a basic dilemma: Is surrogacy a superior form of solidarity between people or the instrumentalization of a woman’s body, being contrary to the fundamental dignity of every human person? How does surrogacy affect people involved in the process and what do decades of experience with surrogacy tell us about its effect on human beings? Is there an ideal form of surrogacy where reproductive parties themselves describe the relationship as satisfactory, fair, and just, and where the well-being of all involved parties is equally considered? In this article, we will look at the unsuccessful initiative to regulate at least the issue of altruistic surrogacy in the Council of Europe countries in 2016. The aspect of sacrifice of the surrogate mother for the well-being of the couple who wants a child is often raised. However, the mere altru...

Numerous surveys have revealed high levels of infringement of what appear to be clearly stated rules. Less attention has been given to students’ understanding of academic integrity, and to the potential misconceptions and false beliefs that may make it difficult for them to comply with existing rules and handle complex real-life situations. In this paper we report findings from a survey of European upper secondary students’ views on issues relating to academic integrity. We relate these findings to the students’ training about academic integrity, self-reported level of questionable behavior and country of study.A total of 1654 students at 51 institutions located in 6 European countries participated in the study. The book is envisioned as a catalyst for a robust discourse on these issues, to bring into sharper light what just sustainability is, as critically and constructively assessed, in its experiential, systemic, and normative dimensions. To have woven more tightly the theme of just sustainability into the format of a tripartite arrangement, a summary and conclusion section should have been provided in each part, to show how the different articles are brought to bear on the theme of just sustainability, and another overall summary and conclusion at the end of the book, to show how the three parts of the book interact and interrelate. This could have pulled the book even more tightly into one coherent whole, with its governing theme of just sustainability. As a whole, the book is a high-quality volume of articles, marked by a rigor of scholarship, as written by authors of repute in the field. The range of issues it treats is broad and comprehensive, as it is deep and critical, making the book an outstanding resource for studies in ecological science, ecological justice (ethics), and ecological theology and spirituality.

S svoji stališči in oblikovanjem določenega dela civilne družbe v Sloveniji v sedemdesetih in osemdesetih letih so pomembno prispevali k preoblikovanju slovenskega naroda v nacijo.

The content offers a holistic and thorough view of the impact of digital technology on the development of children and young people. It values the influence of new technologies and countless possibilities and their use in the educational process. However, to achieve the main goal of education today, which is still the integral growth of a person, the book emphasises the new challenge of today’s education. The author proposes to follow four main values: self-esteem, critical thinking, creativity and community. The content includes the following chapters: Cultural Context, School in the Digital Environment, Development of Brains, Impact of Digital Technologies on Cognitive, Emotional, Social, and Moral Development of Children, Education as a Part of Schooling, Religious Education as a Support to Schooling, Specific Educational Features of Catholic Schools, Research Analysis about the Role of Religion and Values in Slovenian Catholic Schools.

The first part outlines the social context with challenges related to education, such as digitalisation, globalisation, consumerism, pluralism, individualism, nihilism, etc. The radical changes in society require redefining the mission of the school to prepare the young to live autonomous and responsible lives in the future. As a framework for education in a pluralistic world, UNESCO’s “Four Pillars of Education” are regarded an appropriate approach. The role of a school encapsulates earning to know, learning to do, learning to be together and learning to be. Considering these pillars a foundation, the author can develop the most important values in the school today. These values entail self-esteem, integration of mistakes, empathy, critical thinking, longing for knowledge, creativity, ethical responsibility, community, solidarity and participation. Value education can and should take place in all subjects and all activities in school. It constitutes the culture of the school. Teachers as inspiring role models are of crucial importance for the young in their personal growth.

There is also a possibility for women to freeze their egg cells and decide for pregnancy later in life. In addition to medical reasons for such a decision, some also advocate the justification of social reasons (career option, choosing the right partner…). This article introduces the ethical dilemmas of social egg freezing. Above all, we discuss the argument that justifies such a decision on the basis of the woman's autonomy. The concept of autonomy is interpreted differently within different philosophical directions. For Kant, autonomy is the self-determination of the individual in accordance with reason, while for Mill, autonomy is the free decision of the individual, insofar as it does not harm another's decision. We agree with the feminist approach, which advocates "relational autonomy", where the decision of the individual is placed in a broader social context, which in the case of social egg freezing points to the great potential for abuse and pressure on individuals to postpone pregnancy to a later period.

An in-depth analysis of the first chapters of the Genesis in the context of the whole biblical message, however, gives man a completely different calling: a responsibility and care for the whole of Creation. Since Creation as a whole bears the seal of one God, who is the source of all, therefore man, as a created being, is called to be a responsible curator of Creation. God does not give man the licence to exploit the created things freely for his own benefit, but asks him that he, in a position of reverence towards God, forms an ethical relationship to all created beings. The reluctance of the official Catholic Church to pay special attention to ecological problems, which it has not done for a very long time, is surprising. Only Pope Francis's encyclical letter Laudato si’ is setting forth a whole teaching on the responsibility of man for the entirety of Creation. In this article, we try to go a step further, and show the yet-untapped potentials of biblical faith in modern ecological ethics.

In modern global society, we are witnessing a strong intertwining of different religions and worldviews, which is the reason why local communities are becoming increasingly multireligious and multicultural. Many global challenges, such as ecological crisis, the eradication of poverty, the prevention of war and violence, call for the formation of a global ethics. Hans Küng and his like-minded associates designed a world ethos that combines the rich moral tradition of all the major religions to ensure world peace and just relations among nations. Religious and ethical education in public schools plays an important role in raising awareness of global responsibility. Latest documents from the European institutions encourage all students to obtain appropriate education in the field of religion and ethics. This is the best guarantee for peaceful coexistence between people of different worldviews and serves as prevention from any form of radicalization.
