It was submitted as a Habilitation thesis on 09 April 2024 to the deanery of faculty 09 at the university of Stuttgart. It treats in a monographic manner what Sedley (2003) has called the "decentralisation of Hellenistic philosophy".

Being my PhD dissertation, worked over for publication, it originally bore the title "Die Zivilisierung der Barbaren. Literarischer Topos und politisches Ethos von der späten Republik bis ins 3. Jahrhundert n. Chr." This paper presents a detailed analysis of the verses Rut. Nam. 1,197–200 and the various scholar... more This paper presents a detailed analysis of the verses Rut. Nam. 1,197–200 and the various scholarly interpretations of them. It proposes that these verses should be read as polyvalent imagery, referring to a wide range of topoi on Rome as well as to a significant number of historical and contemporary Roman authors. This is followed by a more general appeal to allow for the idea of polyvalence more often concerning the interpretation of ancient rhetoric and poetry.

Gesamtösterreichischer Althistorikertag" 2012 at Klagenfurt, Austria. It contains an analysis of the famous passage on a school for iberian youths in Plutarch's Sertorius. I argue for a perspective on this episode as a primarily literary means of presenting the protagonist's character and its development.
