The survey design was employed for the research. A total population of 8,101 undergraduate students from University of Benin was used. A sample of 382 undergraduate students was used for the research. A structured questionnaire, validated by two experts was used for the data collection. The Cronbach alpha statistical method was employed to determine the reliability of the instrument, which yielded the coefficient alpha value of 0.87. Twenty items questionnaire was administered to the respondents with the help of two trained research assistants. The data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and t-test statistics. The research revealed that entrepreneurship programme is not properly implemented particularly at the university level. It also revealed that students are not well-equipped...

The research revealed that entrepreneurship programme is not properly implemented particularly at the university level. It also revealed that students are not well-equipped with entrepreneurship key competencies such as creative and innovative skills that would have helped them in starting and running their own business. It also revealed that there was no significant difference between the mean responses of Science and Arts/Humanity-based students regarding the implementation state of entrepreneurship programme. It further revealed that there was no significant difference between the mean responses of Science and Arts/Humanity-based students regarding the extent to which entrepreneurship programme has equipped students with creative and innovative skills. Consequently, the authors drew a useful conclusion for the subject matter. Providing sufficient amount of financial resources, involving employers of labour, sourc-ing for qualified teaching and non-teaching personnel, procuring the state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities , as well as utilizing appropriate instructional methods, that would help in equipping students with creative and innovative skills for starting and operating their own businesses were further recommended.

It gives personal satisfaction, pleasure and also nourishes the body. Due to the increased rate of urbanization in Nigeria which has made many Nigerians search for better working conditions and life in the country, it has resulted in ever increasing demand for fast food restaurants over the last 25years. These types of fast food restaurants are called Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs). Food prepared at these outlets are daily patronized by thousands of skilled and unskilled workers, professionals, students, school children and even market women and men who have tight work schedules and the resultant lack of time to cook. Food safety is a major concern with QSRs as these foods are generally prepared and sold under unhygienic conditions, with limited access to safe water, sanitary services, or garbage disposal facilities. One of the systems used in assuring food safety to consumer is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). However, its numerous challenges have made it a difficult system for QSRs to adopt. This gave rise to a new food safety system called Assured Safe Catering (ASC) which was developed from HACCP. The steps involved in ASC implementation was enumerated and discussed. Various recommendations were drawn, which include, intergovernmental collaboration on food safety issues and Local Government Area Councils to conduct scheduled and unscheduled visit to these QSRs on food safety issues.

Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study was carried out in two (2) primary schools; a Montessori Primary School (MPS) and a Public Primary School (PPS) both in Oredo LGA of Benin-City. The population for study was thirty seven (37) pupils in PPS and twenty three (23) in MPS. Also nineteen (19) teachers in PPS and 13 in MPS were used for the study. The instrument used were 2014/2015 academic performance score sheets and a structured questionnaire tagged “Pupils’ Academic Performance in Public and Montessori Private Schools (PAPPMPS)”with a reliable index of 0.94. Hypothesis one (1) was analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The result showed that there is a significant difference between academic performance of pupils in MPS and PPS in vocational studies. Research question two (2) and three (3) were both analyzed using Chi-square, mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the use of instructional materials influences academic performance in MPS in relation to PPS and Montessori Method of teaching influences academic performance in vocational studies respectively. It was concluded that the delivery of vocational studies to primary school pupils is more achieved through Montessori Method of teaching than the traditional method. Recommendations proffered include Montessori Method of teaching should be adopted by public schools in order to improve the pupils’ academic performance in vocational studies.
