With this increased role comes a greater need to account to both donors and the public. In this paper we explore if and how NGO's in Romania address transparency, accountability and effectiveness in their work. Our qualitative and quantitative analysis is based on a questionnaire to which 129 (randomly chosen) national and international NGO's operating in Romania answered, providing a reasonable statistical base. In our exploratory study we use the comprehensive framework developed by "Accountable Now" (2017), which contains 12 commitments and self-reported standards about their programme effectiveness, ethical fundraising and communication, and management of issues concerning finance, the environment, human resources and impact on wider society. For the descriptive statistical analysis and hypothesis testing we use R Studio software.

The new interdisciplinary field of men's studies puts the particular instead of the universal male subject into focus. It conceives of masculinity as an intersectional category interlocked with other categories, such as race, ethnicity, class, age or sexuality. At the same time, there has been a growing recognition that gender equality cannot be achieved without men and boys. Gender inequalities are embedded in a multidimensional structure of relationships between women and men that operated at every level of the human experience-from economic arrangements, culture and the state to interpersonal relationships and individual emotions. Moving towards a gender-equal society involves profound institutional change as well as change in everyday life and individual behavior. Making progress towards this goal requires widespread support, including significant support from men and boys. This, in turn, requires further research and evidence about the changing social construction of masculinities. This special issue of Analize looks at some of the recent trends in both the academic fields of masculinities, gender, and gender equality studies, and recent developments in (popular) culture and societies, including how men are increasingly being engaged in realizing gender equality. Gender norms and conceptions of masculinity, and what it means to be a man, are shifting.

At the same time there is broad global consensus that gender equality is a fundamental human right and, in fact, is linked to a country’s overall economic performance. Although in Romania the status of women has improved considerably in recent years, differences between women and men in economic participation still persist.
The aim of this paper is to answer the question: where do we stand today with regard to the gender gap in the economy? The research is based on official reports on gender inequality, data collected by the European Union, United Nations and World Economic Forum, legislation in force, and the most important and relevant studies in the literature, which all point to a continued gender gap in Romanian society.

Although it is generally acknowledged that women were active participants in the revolts against the autocratic regimes of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and even Bahrain-the young Yemeni activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkul Karman became known as the "Mother of the Yemeni revolution"-research on how they took to the streets and in a later stage got involved it the transition negotiations and policy-making is scarce. Women, Civil Society and Policy Change in the Arab World tries to fill this void.

The United States provided first aid to Hungary and Poland through the Support for East European Democracy (SEED) Act. Thirty years later, the question is still how effective that democracy assistance has been. Romanian Dispatch spoke with Thomas Carothers, interim president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. Carothers is an authority on international support for democracy, human rights and the rule of law, good governance and civil society. He was one of the first democracy experts to evaluate the impact of that assistance; for his book Assessing Democracy Assistance: The Case of Romania (1996) he even learned Romanian.

After December 6th elections one can add some lessons learned in analysis:
* better to judge the trends by clusters of parties as is the case for PNL+USR PLUS;
* seems that health context counted more for higher educated people , potential voters for PNL and USR PLUS;
*higher educated people , with large shares of supporters for right oriented parties have the tendency of being more worried on health risks in the current context.
* a re-merging voters of PRO-ROMANIA with the source party of PSD could have been considered by a better analysis of political movement before elections (as , for example, in Dolj country);
* the erosion of the governing party in times of crises is deeper than expected for usual times;
* and last, but not least, the great mistake of not allowing for mail/electronic vote for people with usual residence in Romania was payed by PNL and USR PLUS.
