Abubakar Yusuf
Dr. Yusuf Abubakar Mamud is a Lecturer in the Department of International Relations, Baze University, Abuja. He is an expert on preventing/countering violent extremism issues both domestically and internationally. Prior to his current role, he served as both a facilitator and consultant with various international organizations such as African Union, ECOWAS, Hedayah Centre for Excellence Abu Dhabi, Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding, International Institute for Justice and Rule of Law, Malta, Kofi Anan International Peacekeeping Training Centre Accra Ghana and the International Institute for Security Studies Pretoria. Dr. Yusuf’s areas of specialty are on transnational terrorist movements, Counterterrorism/P/CVE, Islamic social mobilization history, Islam in Nigeria and Africa, contemporary civilization in the Muslim world and African security Affairs. In addition, Dr. Yusuf Abubakar Mamud has carried out research at the National Defence College Abuja and the Office of the National Security Adviser. He participated in the drafting of different government technical reports and strategic assessments on extremist ideology and counter-radicalization and strategic communication. Dr. Yusuf has conducted research in more than 20 countries on the African continent, Middle East and Asia. He is the author of numerous policy reports, Op-Eds, and several upcoming new journal articles. He has featured on top rated television programs in Nigeria such as Channels TV, Arise and TVC to name a few. He completed his Ph.D. at University of Abuja in International Relations with a focus on threat assessment in Nigeria and the Sahel region.
