The total population of 107 senior secondary school biology teachers in the 22 public schools formed the sample for the study. It was a census study. A 34 item questionnaire titled "Biology Teachers Information and Communication Technology Competency Status" (BTICTCS) was developed, and used to collect data from the respondents. The questionnaire had 5 sections. The instrument was face and content validated by 2 lecturers in Tests and Measurement Department, University of Calabar. The questionnaire was administered to 59 biology teachers seen on ground; 57 were returned and 53 (M=9; F=44) found useable. Four research questions guided the study. The results showed that (1) 75.5% of biology teachers possessed high basic ICT competency skills (2) Only 13 (24.5%) possess the higher skills (3) only 13 (24%) show a high level of internet competency. (4) Less female biology teachers possess higher ICT or internet competencies. (5) There is very low (9 =16.98%) utilisation of computers in lesson delivery. Based on the results it was recommended that (1) biology teachers be re trained and encouraged to promote computer/ICT based lessons. (2) Schools also are encouraged to obtain some of these software which can be purchased off the shelf. (3) Teachers should also be encouraged to sharpen their internet skills by surfing the internet.

Five research questions guided the study. The entire population of eighty four chemistry teachers from the seventy nine public secondary schools in the educational zone constituted the sample for the study. The sample comprising forty one male and forty three female chemistry teachers successfully completed the questionnaire which was the instrument for data collection. Simple percentage was used to analyse the research questions. Results of the analysis revealed that (1) thirty eight (45.2%) of the chemistry teachers have high internet literacy level (2) most of the chemistry teachers 59 (70.2%) exhibit moderate level of internet access (3) only 17 (20.2%) have a high level of awareness of online educational tools (4) male chemistry teachers have higher awareness level than their female counterparts and (5) level of awareness decreases with increase in years of service of the chemistry teachers. Based on the results, it was recommended, among others, that seminars and workshops should be organised to sensitize chemistry teachers on availability of internet based educational tools.

Specifically, this study sought to find out if infrastructure, instructional facilities and lecturer-student relationship have any combined connection with lecturers' positive work behaviour. The study adopted survey research design, while the population of the study involved a collection of lecturers from faculties and departments at the University of Calabar, Calabar. 550 lecturers were selected as the sample for this study using stratified, purposive and simple random sampling techniques. Workplace environment questionnaire and lecturers work behaviour scale with a reliability index of .72 and .84 respectively were utilized to gather data from the sampled respondents for this study. Data received was subjected to statistical analysis using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Linear Regressions. Findings of the study unveiled that infrastructural facilities, instructional facilities, and lecturer-student relationship are significant joint predictors of lecturers' positive work behaviour in federal university. It was concluded that the workplace environment variables are critical factor that influences lecturers' positive work behaviour. By implications, the workplace environment and its variables are potent panacea for optimum positive work behaviour among lecturers in any education setting.

Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A correlational research design was used for the purpose of the study. The population of the study comprised of 994,297 students for the 2020/2021 academic session in 242 public secondary schools. The sample size was five hundred and twenty (520) students selected using multistage random technique. The instruments used for data collection were Teacher Effectiveness Strategies Questionnaire (TESQ) and Students' Attitude to Learning Questionnaire (SATLQ). The TESQ had 15-items related to teachers' classroom planning, teachers' classroom instruction and teacher's classroom interpersonal relations while the SATLQ had 10-items related to students' attitude to learning. The instruments were subjected to face and content validation by six (6) experts while the reliability coefficient of the instruments stood at 0.82 and 0.72 respectively. The reliability was determined using Cronbach alpha reliability method. The data collected were analyzed using Simple Linear Correlation Statistical Tool at cordial and teachers passionate about the student's future, love and protect the teaching profession as well.

Observed trend is emphasis on didactic method which encourages memorization. Recently, learning theories and research results reveal the achievement of better learning experiences when learners are meaningfully engaged in the learning process as against rote learning. This paper sheds some light on learning by doing as a more beneficial process of learning than memorizing. It also discusses the classroom implications of learning by doing and their expected gains for the UBE programme…

The entire population of 320 senior secondary school science (biology, 210; chemistry, 73 and physics, 37) teachers in the 80 public schools in calabar education zone formed the sample for the study. Demographic information from a 51 item questionnaire titled “Science Teachers’ Perception of Open Education Resources” (BTICTCS) served as data source for this assessment. Of the Questionnaire 283 administered, 279 were returned and 270 were useable. The results shows that (1) more female are found in the life sciences than physical science- Biology m=18(16.2%), f=93(83.8%); Physics m= 39(65%), f=21(35%) (2) the number of young female science teachers decrease with decrease in age 41-45years, 48(26.7%); 36-40years-48(26.7%), 31-35years-36(20%) and below 31years only 21(11.7%). (3) generally the number of science teachers deceases with decrease in years of teaching experience between 6-10year category =96(35.6%), 11-15year (78 (28.9%)) and 0-5years category = 39(14.4%). Based on the results it was recommended that (1)Schools should liaise with female scientists, e.g. health practitioners, educators, technologists, engineers, etc, to hold special school career talks where students are generally addressed and encouraged to take on more career in science. Such fora could be used to address their fears and (2) More should be done by government to encourage science enrolment in tertiary institutions.

Experts believe that the required processing techniques to convert crops and tubers into value-added products are usually hampered because of the non-availability of necessary processing facilities, and when available the power required to run them is lacking or grossly insufficient. To maximally tap the potentials of agro-industry in sub-Saharan Africa, and Nigeria in particular, certain factors that could promote agricultural performance must be properly addressed. Such factors are improvements in the design and implementation of agro-processing machinery. This paper investigates the possibilities of upgrading crude fabricated agro-processing machines into a piece of more efficient machinery using embedded systems and green technology to moderate portability, efficiency, and power requirements. The possible outcome and advantages are discussed.
