Domenico Miriello
Domenico Miriello is associate professor at the University of Calabria in the scientific disciplinary field named "GEOS-01/D” (Mining geo-resources and mineralogical-petrographic applications for the environment and cultural heritage)"; he qualified as a full professor level in 2018. He graduated in Geological Sciences in 2000. He received his PhD in 2005. He was Scientific Director of the X-ray and Raman Spoectroscopy Laboratory at UNICAL from 2014 to 2024.
The research carried out by Prof. Miriello concerns the mineralogical and petrographic study of natural and artificial stone materials of the cultural heritage, aimed at solving problems of an archeometric nature, with particular reference to mortars, ceramic materials and stones.
He has contributed to the development of a large number of national and international research projects and collaborates with numerous researchers from various national and foreign universities in Turkey, Mexico, Spain, France, Cuba and the United States of America.
The results of his research (over 153 publications) have been published in national and international scientific journals (107) with high impact factor, in books, encyclopedias and conference proceedings. He is currently scientific director of a POR project aimed at the application of artificial intelligence for the recognition of ancient rocks (SILPI project).
He is associate editor for the journal "Studies in Conservation", member of the editorial board of the journal "Minerals", guest editor for the Special Issue of the journal "Archaeological and Anthropological Sciences".
