Floriano De Rango
Floriano De Rango is Professor of Telecommunication and Networking at the Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and System Engineering (DIMES) of the University of Calabria, Italy. He got the Ph.d in System and Computer Engineering in 2005 working on Scalable Routing Strategy for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET). He co-authored till now more than 280 papers in well-known International Conferences and Journals producing contributions also with well recognized Prof. such as Proff. Mario Gerla, Jon Crowcroft (IEEE Fellows), Piet Van Mieghem.
He has been involved as Editorial Board members in many International Journal such as International Journal of Communications Systems (Wiley), Internet Technology Letters (Wiley), Electronics (MDPI - Networking section), in International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (Hindawi), in Sensors Journal (Internet of Things section), in International Journal of Bio-Inspired Computation. He entered in the Top Italian Scientist list for Computer Science Engineering in 2019 with h-index=40, i-10=108 and a total citations of 4300. He was ranked in 2020 and 2021 in the Top 2% Computer Science World Scientist according to clarivate https://data.mendeley.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/2 where a Stanford databases ranking more than 500000 scientist has been considered listing scientists one the basis of the productivity, impact (normalized h-index), number of authors in publication and excluding self-citations and considering the normalization over the whole career period till 2019 and till 2020.
The candidate supported IEEE and ACM in organization and management toles (GC or PC) of many International Conferences such as Consumer Communication and Networking Conference (CCNC), Distributed Simulation and Real-Time Systems (DS-RT), Simultech, WinSys, Wireless Days.
He gained experience also in the industrial field founding three startup companies Spintel Ltd, Thunderbit Ltd and Voice Ltd working respectively in the field od Internet of things, Broadband Wireless Networks and Artificial Intelligence applied to Voice Recognition and Automation Systems. He received awards for research and development activities in National and European competition. An example is the Intel Business Challenge Europe 2013 competition where his proposal and business plan was ranked in the top 20 industrial ideas In Europe by the Intel Corporation. He leaded many National Projects and he was involved as researcher in some European Projects.
