Claudio Filho
Artist-researcher focusing on the intersections of Art, Technology, and Ecology. Cláudio is a Doctoral Candidate in Visual Arts at UNICAMP (Brazil) and a Visiting Researcher (2024-2025) at the School of Arts, Design, and Architecture at Aalto University (Finland), where he explores practical-theoretical collaborations between non-living systems (fungi, lichens, and bacteria) and digital systems (computation and artificial intelligence). His artistic practice investigates the connections between Art, Environment, and Technology (Human-Data-Environment). Currently, he is engaged in research within an international network of laboratories dedicated to Art, Science, and Technology collaborations, focusing on the Anthropocene and Bioart.
Cláudio is a member of R.A.T. Group (Finland), Bioart Society (Finland), ACTlab (Brazil), and Grupo Extremidades (Brazil).
He holds a Master's degree from the Postgraduate Program in Art, Culture, and Languages (PPG-ACL) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and Interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree in Arts and Design from the Institute of Arts and Design (IAD/UFJF).
Cláudio’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Emerging Extended Realities exhibition in Macao, China; EmMeio#14 (Galeria Térreo) at the Museu Nacional da República in Brasília, Brazil; and the 17th Athens Digital Arts Festival in Athens, Greece. In 2023, he received the following wards: MediAsia / KAMC IAFOR Scholarship in Kyoto, Japan, and in 2022; finalist (with the Kodos Collective) for the FUNARTE Olimpíadas das Artes Visuais award in the Digital Art category; Bioart society Mini-residency at SOLU SPACE, Helsinki (2024); and ARS BIOARTICA residency (2025)
