Hernando S. SALAPARE III, Ph.D.
HERNANDO "Jéthro" SIY SALAPARE III (born 04 March 1984, Tigaon, Camarines Sur) is a former instructor of Physics at the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Salapare obtained his BS Applied Physics and MS Physics degrees from the University of the Philippines in 2007 and 2010, respectively. His Doctor of Philosophy in Physics (PhD Physics) degree was obtained both from the University of the Philippines Diliman and the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis in Nice, France (Exchange Mobility) in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Henry J. Ramos, Ph.D. and Prof. Frédéric Guittard, Ph.D. He was awarded the 2008 Leticia Shahani Award for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Applied Physics and the 2010 Most Outstanding Master of Science Graduate of the College of Science, University of the Philippines Diliman. Salapare was elected as a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) in 2010. Salapare is also a regular member of the Vacuum Society of the Philippines, Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines), the Division of Plasma Physics of Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies, and the Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée (LPMC), Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis and Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS). He is recently listed in the Philippine Men and Women of Science (PMS, Vol. 27, pp. 117-120, December 2013) of the Department of Science and Technology, Philippines.
Salapare is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée (LPMC), Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis and Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) under the supervision of Prof. Frédéric Guittard, Ph.D. He had several publications in ISI/SCI/SCIE-indexed journals, international circulated books, and proceedings of international and local conferences in Physics related to his work on Plasma Physics, Surfaces and Interfaces, and Materials Science.

surface made more hydrophobic reduced light leakage to as low as 60%. As the material showed increased surface striations, its optical transmittance, wettability, and surface
tension also increased. With no observable shifting of the IR-absorption peaks, the surface modification was essentially morphological in character.
