In the excavation campaigns 1988-89 two squares were investigated, AB3 and AC3, which produced evidence for a particularly interesting phase of life at / uvanum. The archaeological finds, which were heterogeneous and not easy to interpret, can be assigned to the first half of the 1st century AD and document a flourishing period traumatically interrupted by a fire or an earthquake. We are probably dealing with the occupation phase preceding the monumental construction of the Roman city. Among the debris, which is stratigraphically well documented, an infant burial with few grave goods was found, the only one to date at
Iuvanum.
