The 'Universal' Method of Sciences in Bassiano Landi • Bassiano Landi, philosopher, physician and... more The 'Universal' Method of Sciences in Bassiano Landi • Bassiano Landi, philosopher, physician and professor of medicine at the University of Padua in the XVI century, developed an instrumental conception of logic that would allow the creation of a technique useful for the construction of scientific knowledge and functional to the organization, and above all, the dissemination of knowledge. Landi was a close friend and collaborator of eminent figures of the philosophical, literary and religious scene of the time, such as Sebastiano Erizzo, Theodor Zwinger, Francesco Patrizi, Agostino Valier. Recent research has pointed out Landi's importance in the coeval debate on the question of proper methods and orders of research and teaching, and on the possibilities of creating an encyclopaedic and universal organization of all sciences.
