The Electric Power Research Institute supported this idea, and many researchers have invested efforts on the value and potential of FACTS. At this time, it appears that the main value of FACTS lies in improving transmission capability; increasing the flexibility of power flow control (e.g., for wheeling or for economic dispatch); for controlling voltage (and var flow); and possibly additional advantages in lower voltage systems (e.g., distributional systems). Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) controllers have been used in power systems since the 1970s with the objective of improving system dynamic performance. Due to the environmental, right-of-way, and cost problems in both bundled and unbundled power systems, many transmission lines have been forced to operate at almost their full capacities worldwide. FACTS controllers enhance the static performance viz. increased loading, congestion management, reduced system loss, economic operation, etc., and dynamic performance viz. increased stability limits, damping of power system oscillation, etc. In this paper, an overview of FACTS controllers is explained. Various FACTS controllers and several devices in FACTS family are also discussed.

Automation of the surrounding environment increases the comfort and quality of life of everyone. Economical Home Automation System (EHAS) has been aimed to support and offer care so as to satisfy the requirements of handicapped plus old aged people in the household. In proposed paper a household mechanization device has been developed which is affordable than the available parallel products in bazaar. In the proposed paper, the motorized approach of controlling the devices in a joined or nuclear family that could encourage the assignments of using the regular method for the control. Wireless control is primary concern for everyone. The most notable and successful development for short range remote correspondence Infra-Red (IR) is used to robotize the structure.

The continuing scaling of CMOS transistor has enabled integrated circuit with higher packing density, higher speed and lower power dissipation. These have been key components leading to today’s computers and communication systems. However, as the CMOS dimension is scaled to the nanometer regime (<100nm), many physical barriers arise, which will finally prevent the traditional CMOS to be the candidate for future applications. Thus modifications to CMOS device structure to boost performance are necessary. Fundamental changes in device architecture may be required to continue scaling trends with thin-body MOSFETs such as UTB-FETs and FinFETs emerging as leading contenders. This paper addresses subsequent development of device scaling issues involved in the design and performance optimization of thin-body MOSFETs. Given the difficulties in shrinking tra...
