The necropolis, pertaining to a protohistoric settlement, was brought to light in 1953 during the works for the expansion of the Strada Statale Pontina. Since then, systematic and rescue excavations have been carried out (directed by Soprintendenza Archeologica di Roma and Soprintendenza Archeologica di Ostia Antica). Fieldwork in 2018 led to the discovery of two further tombs pertaining to the necropolis. The complete excavation of the burials, the conservation of the artifacts and their study – supported by a new GIS database of the entire burial ground – allow us to reconsider what has been published so far. We are establishing the basis for putting to system the whole burial ground, which will lead to a holistic knowledge of one of the largest protohistoric necropolis of the Roman suburbium.
