CALL FOR ABSTRACTS/PAPERS The 2 nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE of the JOURNAL SCUOLA DEMOCRATICA "RE... more CALL FOR ABSTRACTS/PAPERS The 2 nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE of the JOURNAL SCUOLA DEMOCRATICA "REINVENTING EDUCATION" will be hosted online June 3 through 5 2021, by Scuola Democratica, Centro Interuniversitario per la Ricerca Didattica (Uni-versity of Cagliari and University of Sassari), Il Mulino. The challenges posed by the contemporary world have long required a rethinking of educational concepts, policies, and practices. The question about education 'for what' as well as 'how' and 'for whom' has become unavoidable and yet it largely remained elusive due to a tenacious attachment to the ideas and routines of the past which are now far off the radical transformations required of educational systems. Scenarios, reflections, and practices fostering the possibility of change towards the reinvention of the educational field as a driver of more general and global changes are centerstage topics at the Conference and will have a multidisciplinary approach from experts from different disciplinary communities, including sociology, pedagogy, psychology, economics , architecture, political science, etc. We hope with this opportunity to confirm the participation obtained at the first edition of the conference. Organizers, promoters and partners of the Conference wish to invite educators, teachers , researchers, scholars, academics, scientists, professionals, experts and policy makers to join the conversation and bring the disciplines towards a more integrated set of alliances by:-promoting a trans and inter disciplinary discussion on urgent topics;-fostering debates among experts and professionals;-diffusing research findings all over international scientific networks and practitioners' mainstreams;-launching further strategies and networking alliances on local, national and international scale;-providing a new space for debate and evidence to educational policies. The panel aims to gather papers on the opinions of school community members-principals, teachers, families, support staff-on the changes that they have managed, suffered, and determined within the pandemic emergency. Particular attention will be given to the accounts of disorientation and difficulty, but also to the crafting of creative and innovative solutions for projects, relations, teaching, and assessments. Even before the pandemic, it was clear that "School" could not be delimited by the walls of a building. Although the school system and the forms of dissemination of knowledge are still deeply grounded in nineteenth-century models, there is a spread of new models that are based on active, collaborative, cooperative , circular, widespread and non-authoritarian pedagogies. In the sudden transition to the many forms of remote learning, characterized by the lack of training and the persistence of old-fashioned school culture, the responses have often been fragile and inconsistent (Lucisano, 2020; Ciurnelli, Izzo, 2020). However, there have been innovative and effective distance teaching and learning experiences, too (IN-DIRE, 2020). The idea of education as a common good and as the result of collaboration between teachers, schools, and the entire learning community could lead the change (Novoa, 2020). Only in this case digital technologies may contribute to the creation of self-educating, learning communities, which are oriented towards inclusiveness and the construction of personalized paths. In these models, metacognitive dimension, teaching/learning planning and assessment are also very important. Starting from the voices and experiences of practices, we will be able to rethink the school system, as we had already wished in the pre-pandemic era. For this reason, the panel intends to host papers on the point of view of leaders, teachers, and students on the changes that have occurred. References Ciurnelli B., Izzo D.
