Quale campagna elettorale stanno conducendo i leader sui social network? Le piattaforme sociali s... more Quale campagna elettorale stanno conducendo i leader sui social network? Le piattaforme sociali svolgono la funzione fondamentale di autopromozione sia in chiave di rapporto diretto con la fanbase, sia di condizionamento dell'agenda mediatica e giornalistica. I "Like" non sono voti. Tuttavia i social network sono oggi un dispositivo cruciale della campagna elettorale. Sono i nodi nevralgici dell'autopromozione del leader e, di riflesso, del partito che rappresentano: con la strategia "social" i leader entrano in relazione diretta con la comunità di riferimento, la coinvolgono e la mobilitano, ma sempre di più li utilizzano per condizionare i processi di agenda-building, al fine di influire sulle coperture mediatiche mainstream della campagna elettorale. I social network, per certi versi, sono il timone della campagna elettorale digitale. Matteo Salvini è in questa fase il leader più compiutamente digitale. Dispone di una base di supporter largamente più ampia su tutte le piattaforme considerate in questa analisi: Facebook, Instagram e Twitter (Figura 1). Al di là degli oltre 3 milioni e 600 mila fan su Facebook, è il solo a superare la soglia del milione di fan su Instagram, la piattaforma che in questa fase delle campagne digitali si conferma come il medium emergente. La campagna per le Politiche 2013 è stata caratterizzata da variabili di contesto particolarmente... more La campagna per le Politiche 2013 è stata caratterizzata da variabili di contesto particolarmente impattanti: tra queste i tempi di svolgimento molto contratti, una generalizzata sostanziosa riduzione del budget e un clima d’opinione refrattario – quando non apertamente ostile – all’offerta politica dei partiti tradizionali.
Questi fattori di contingenza hanno fortemente condizionato le modalità del campaigning, il quale, a posteriori, è apparso segnato da una forte ambiguità interpretativa: da un lato, la narrazione giornalistica ha celebrato la prima campagna a trazione web 2.0; dall’altro, però, gli strateghi della comunicazione elettorale hanno finito per aggrapparsi, ancora una volta, al salvagente del presenzialismo televisivo del leader. È ben noto, d’altra parte, ai professionisti della comunicazione elettorale che se il web è in via di definitiva affermazione come fonte informativa, soprattutto tra le fasce di elettorato giovanile, la televisione mantiene però ancora un’assoluta centralità nelle diete informative e mediatiche degli italiani. Ne sono risultate, sul piano comunicativo, campagne bicefale, costruite contestualmente sulle certezze assicurate del broadcasting e sulla presenza, talvolta poco ordinata e consapevole, sulle piattaforme di social networking.
Il paper che qui si presenta persegue un triplice obiettivo: ricostruisce le strategie di comunicazione dei partiti in campagna elettorale, analizza la struttura organizzativa delle macchine di comunicazione e, infine, testa la capacità innovativa dei dispositivi comunicativi dispiegati nella contesa elettorale. È stata questa, davvero, la prima campagna elettorale web 2.0? Quanto ha contato l’apporto della rete – soprattutto, ma non solo, della sua dimensione social – e quanto ha pesato, invece, la comunicazione tradizionale di tipo broadcast? Soprattutto, però, qual è stato il grado di integrazione tra vecchi e nuovi media che si è determinato a livello di strategia?
La ricerca è stata condotta integrando due differenti metodologie: (1) il monitoraggio qualitativo delle strategie di campagna attraverso l’osservazione diretta delle dinamiche su fonti mediali; (2) un piano di interviste in profondità ai campaign manager dei partiti, ai loro consulenti e web strategist. In particolare, quest’ultima fase della ricerca ha permesso di indagare le strategie di comunicazione dall’interno, sulla base di resoconti resi da testimoni privilegiati che hanno agito, con ruoli di responsabilità diretta, all’interno delle war room dei partiti. L’incrocio tra osservazione esterna e testimonianza diretta ha consentito una ricostruzione approfondita delle strategie di campaigning secondo modalità che risultano tuttora inedite in letteratura.
