Veulent-elles dire autre chose que ce qu'elles nous semblent signifier ? Réciproquement, les usant, disons-nous vraiment ce que nous voulons dire ? Ainsi, la (ré)interprétation produite par chaque analyse accueillera les questions et les remarques de l'auditoire. Et l'ordinaire de se faire le tremplin de l'enquête philosophique.

Sa mère lui demande la raison de son état, ce dernier lui répond : « Personne ne veut être mon ami, tout le monde me rejette ». La mère, prenant dans ses bras son enfant pleurant, lui répond : « Mon chéri, tout vient à point à qui sait attendre ». On peut discerner trois thèmes distincts dans cette expression : il s'agit du tout, de l'agir et du temps.

Comme pour la plupart, voire la totalité, des expressions que nous employons au quotidien, une rupture apparaît entre ce que semble signifier au premier abord cette expression et ce que nous souhaitons en fait dire. Si, par exemple, vous obtenez le poste de vos rêves, on vous dira certainement « tu es comme un poisson dans l'eau ». Généralement bienveillante, cette remarque survient dans ce cas comme la reconnaissance du travail que vous avez accompli pour être là où vous en êtes, à votre place. Mais quel rapport avec le « poisson dans l'eau » qui peut être dans une situation inconfortable ? Il est évident que le poisson qui est dans l'eau est dans son élément. Un poisson hors de l'eau ne peut survivre que peu de temps. Être dans l'eau est donc une question de vie ou de mort pour le poisson. Mais il n'en va pas de même pour l'être humain.

Quelqu'un, un proche, que la vie a emporté ou éloigné de vous et à qui vous ne pouvez ni vous confier ni demander conseil au besoin. Quelque chose que ce soit, mais quelque chose en tant qu'elle fait défaut. En sorte que l'on pourrait très bien dédramatiser ces situations caractérisées et vous objecter : « Et bien tu n'as qu'à faire sans ! ».
