Prof. Azeddine Belakehal
Born in 1967, Azeddine BELAKEHAL studied architecture in Algeria where he graduated in 1991. He then worked as architect-principal in a technical public office, undertook post-graduate studies (Magister on architecture within arid regions) in 1996 and defended his Doctoral thesis on the qualitative aspects of architectural daylighting design once again at Biskra University in 2007. Azeddine has been accredited as a research supervisor in 2009 and as a Professor in architecture in 2016. Because of his previous field professional experience, he has also been a consultant for urban planning project studies carried out by governmental agencies for new human settlements in Algerian desert as well as a member of jury for several projects (housing, university, airport…). Although particularly interested in the environmental design issues in architecture, Azeddine is working on the interdisciplinary approaches to the architectural object’s study and recently on the special case of the urban and architectural heritage. He wins an AIMS and CAORC scholarships for two post-doctoral research projects respectively about the luminous ambience in the maghrebian mosques and the ambiences of Tunis homes. He also participated in international and national research projects (AUF, CMEP, PNR and ERASMUS+) and led national ones (CNEPRU). Belakehal has also been president and/or member of the post-graduation (Magister or Doctorate) training committee in Biskra university (department of architecture), the Ecole Polytechnique d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme in Algiers and the Ecole Nationale d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme of Tunis (Tunisia). He has published a number of articles dealing with these issues in well-known research journals and presented papers in specialized scientific events. He is at the present time a Professor and head of a research team at the LACOMOFA Laboratory in the Department of Architecture at Biskra University.
Architecte de formation, et après dix ans d’expériences sur le terrain, Azeddine BELAKEHAL entame sa carrière d’enseignant-chercheur en 2000 à l’université Mohamed KHIDER de Biskra d’où il a obtenu un magistère en architecture en 1996, un Doctorat en 2007 et l’habilitation universitaire en 2009. En janvier 2016, il fut promu au grade de Professeur en architecture. De 2010 à 2014 et de 2016 à ce jour, il occupe le poste de chef du département d’architecture de l’université de Biskra en Algérie et participe à la formation de doctorants au sein de l’Ecole Nationale d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme de Tunis (Tunisie) et de l’Ecole Polytechnique d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme d’Alger (Algérie). Azeddine a collaboré à des projets de recherche internationaux (CMEP, AUF et ERASMUS+) et nationaux (CNEPRU) comme il a dirigé des projets de recherche nationaux (CNEPRU) et a obtenu des bourses de recherches postdoctorales internationales (AIMS et CAORC). Il a travaillé sur les aspects environnementaux de l’architecture des régions arides à climat chaud et sec selon une double approche qualitative et quantitative, dont plusieurs résultats ont fait l’objet de publications internationales et nationales. Actuellement, Azeddine focalise ses activités dans le champ de la recherche scientifique sur les ambiances et en particulier dans les édifices patrimoniaux.
