This paper aims to determine the trend of the relationship between corporate environmental respon... more This paper aims to determine the trend of the relationship between corporate environmental responsibility and corporate reputation by focusing on a study of the European automotive sector. The starting point of our research is content analysis of the sustainability or social responsibility reports published in 2010, 2011, and 2012 by 13 businesses operating in the European automotive industry. Content analysis was carried out in order to identify the indicators used to assess corporate environmental responsibility. The methodology aimed to produce an evaluation model for corporate environmental responsibility based on the following variables reported by companies: carbon dioxide emissions, water consumption, energy consumption, and amount of waste. Corporate reputation of sampled organizations was assessed based on content analysis of the 2010, 2011, and 2012 reports of the Reputation Institute. We applied the correlation of panel data and emphasised the fact that high levels of corporate environmental responsibility sustain high levels of corporate reputation. The study highlights the theoretical considerations that support this relationship. As companies become increasingly accountable, the methodology described in our study can be developed in further research by using other variables to measure corporate environmental responsibility.

for the... more Abstract Long-term international assignments’ increase requires more attention being paid for the preparation of these foreign assignments, especially on the recruitment and selection process of expatriates. This article explores how the recruitment and selection process of expatriates is developed in Portuguese companies, examining the main criteria on recruitment and selection of expatriates’ decision to send international assignments. The paper is based on qualitative case studies of companies located in Portugal. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews of 42 expatriates and 18 organisational representatives as well from nine Portuguese companies. The findings show that the most important criteria are: (1) trust from managers, (2) years in service, (3) previous technical and language competences, (4) organisational knowledge and, (5) availability. Based on the findings, the article discusses in detail the main theoretical and managerial implications. Suggestions for further research are also presented.

Building upon the premise that the prolongation of working life presents an adequate ap... more Abstract: Building upon the premise that the prolongation of working life presents an adequate approach to address the fast approaching challenges of population ageing, the paper presents labour market outcomes of older workers in Slovenia in order to explore the role of social system and labour market flexibility in retirement behaviour. By applying bivariate graphic analysis and series of logistic models, paper finds that decisions of older workers (aged 50 - 69) of whether to retire or to continue working up to legal retirement age is being predominately shaped by the pension system parameters. Economic activity beyond this age (or when retired) on the other hand predominately correlates with flexible work arrangements and work motivation. Thus, the future policies in Slovenia aiming to prolong working careers within formal or informal sector should simultaneously do both; change pension system parameters and significantly expand the system flexibility stimulating willing and capable elderly to continue working within the formal sector. by our research, the survey has been chosen and applied in three universities from various
countries: Constantin Brancoveanu University of Pitesti – Management – Marketing in
Economic Affairs Faculty, Romania, Fernando Pessoa - Business Science Faculty, Portugal
and University Degli Studi di Milano – Political Sciences Faculty, Italy. For data
processing, comprehensive methods of analysis and statistic-mathematical methods have
been used, while for data analysis the method of comparing interviewed students’ opinions
and the causal explanation have been used. The paper’s originality consists in drafting a
direct, quantitative research, based on the scientific research of students’ opinions, future
opinion originators, in three countries with various development levels. In addition,
Romanian profile literature does not enlist many scientific papers approaching the analysed
topics, while international research papers exist, but only to a small extent. The main results
of research reveal the occurrence of dissimilarities and similarities relevant to students’
perceptions, regarding the approached subject.

Dintre metodele transversale de cercetare ştiinţifică, s-a ales sondajul de opinie, aplicat în trei universităţi din ţări diferite: Universitatea Constantin Brâncoveanu din Piteşti – Facultatea Management-Marketing în Afacerile Economice, România, Universitatea Fernando Pessoa - Facultatea Business Science din Portugalia şi Universitatea Degli Studi di Milano – Facultatea de Ştiinţe Politice, Italia. Pentru prelucrarea datelor, s au utilizat metode comprehensive de analiză şi metode statistico – matematice iar, pentru interpretarea datelor, metoda comparării opiniilor studenţilor intervievaţi şi explicaţia cauzală. In this regard, we have undertaken a direct research-based structured questionnaire applied to the staff of various departments in the company, using a systematic random sampling version. The main results of the research highlight the need to improve internal communication and organizational culture, which reduces the negative effects of the economic crisis.

The paper thus aims to present the aspects which have determined us to raise these questions: the admission of new concepts, as Through the Line advertising, necessary due to communication hybrids which make the division of some promotion forms into the classical typology – ATL/BTL – impossible; the important mutations on the media market worldwide; the social media revolution, with spectacular results reflected in numbers and statistics; the emergence of global virtual communities with hundreds of million members worldwide, which generated an unprecedented interest of advertising investments in social media.

The present communication aims, without any pretense of an exhaustive research, to highlight the ... more The present communication aims, without any pretense of an exhaustive research, to highlight the need for a strategic communication and promotion in such a competitive environment, by presenting some corporate communication strategies applied in the banking sector. The paper was founded, as a main instrument of scientific research, on a case study of the identity reconstruction and rebranding programme of CEC Bank, the oldest bank in the Romanian financial-banking system. From the examples provided by practice, as well as from the researches conducted in this area of expertise, it results the major importance of the direct and powerful impact the corporate identity has on an increasingly more specialized and selective audience. In this context, banks should understand the consumers’ different communication preferences and to adjust accordingly, by means of specific methods of communication and differentiated promotion.

Among the methods of collection and systematization of information they selected the direct, selective research, according to a questionnaire. Data collection was conducted in October-November 2010, the sample of the respondents consisting of 432 company managers in the Argeş County. The main results of the research highlights the need to improve the communication and collaboration between the two areas, the paper offers concrete solutions.

Dintre metodele de culegere şi sistematizare a informaţiilor s-a ales cercetarea directă, selectivă, pe bază de chestionar. Recoltarea datelor s-a realizat în perioada octombrie – noiembrie 2010, eşantionul respondenţilor fiind alcătuit din 432 de manageri de companii din judeţul Argeş. Principalele rezultate ale cercetării evidenţiază necesitatea perfecţionării comunicării şi colaborării dintre cele două medii, lucrarea oferind soluţii concrete.
În societatea bazată pe cunoaştere şi în economia creativă spre care toate ţările membre UE aspir... more În societatea bazată pe cunoaştere şi în economia creativă spre care toate ţările membre UE aspiră, impulsionate fiind şi de reglementările Comisiei Europene prin Strategia Europa 2020, capitalul uman al unei naţiuni capătă valenţe noi, constituindu-se într-un redutabil avantaj comparativ pentru ţările care investesc în această direcţie. În acest context, scopul prezentului demers ştiinţific este de a propune un model de evaluare a capitalului uman al unei naţiuni, realizat într-o abordare nouă, prin utilizarea de variabile reprezentative. Utilizând modelul propus pot fi realizate benchmarking-uri la nivelul ţărilor lumii. În prezenta lucrare se prezintă un benchmarking la nivelul ţărilor membre UE. Un alt rezultat al cercetării îl constituie identificarea principalelor direcţii strategice în care ţările trebuie să intervină pentru remedierea situaţiilor care le afectează capitalul uman. Pentru a răspunde demersului lucrării, am utilizat ca tehnici de cercetare: investigarea datelor secundare şi analiza de conţinut a principalelor rapoarte şi studii ale organizaţiilor internaţionale cum ar fi: World Bank – Human Development Reports, World Economic Forum, statistici şi publicaţii Eurostat şi UNCTAD, eurobarometre şi rapoarte ale UE privind capitalul uman etc. Pentru analiza datelor s-au aplicat metode statistice de analiză, începând cu cele mai simple (statistici descriptive) şi ajungând la realizarea unor analize complexe.
The research developed in this paper is mainly aimed at the achievement of certain analyses on so... more The research developed in this paper is mainly aimed at the achievement of certain analyses on some key variables of intellectual capital in companies from EU countries and thus, implicitly, from Romania, as well as through the Pearson correlation matrix, intensity analysis of the relationships between the respective variables of the three dimensions related to the intellectual capital, namely the human capital, the structural and relational capital and the GDP/capita. The main research techniques used for the research were: investigation of secondary data and content analysis of the major reports of international organisations on intellectual capital, as well as statistical methods of analysis and interpretation of data, respectively descriptive statistics and correlations. The main results of the research consist in identifying the main directions that envisage the area of intellectual capital in which companies must act to diminish the negative effects of the economic crisis.
Cercetarea elaborată la nivelul prezentei lucrări are ca principal scop realizarea unor analize a... more Cercetarea elaborată la nivelul prezentei lucrări are ca principal scop realizarea unor analize asupra unor variabile reprezentative ale capitalului intelectual, la nivelul companiilor din țările UE, deci, implicit, și la nivelul României, precum și, prin intermediul matricei de corelație Pearson, analiza intensității legăturilor dintre respectivele variabile ale celor trei dimensiuni aferente capitalului intelectual, respectiv capitalul uman, capitalul relațional și capitalul structural și PIB/locuitor. Principalele tehnici de cercetare utilizate pentru realizarea cercetării au fost: investigarea datelor secundare și analiza de conținut a principalelor rapoarte ale organizațiilor internaționale cu privire la capitalul intelectual, precum și metode statistice de analiză și interpretare a datelor, respectiv statistici descriptive și corelații. Principalele rezultate ale cercetării constau în identificarea principalelor direcții, care anvizajează aria capitalului intelectual, în care companiile trebuie să intervină pentru a diminua efectele negative ale crizei economice.

In the context of sustainable development imposed even more by the current economic crisis, this ... more In the context of sustainable development imposed even more by the current economic crisis, this paper aims at a conceptual model of corporate reputation management based on a socially responsible organizational behaviour, a model tested through empirical research in companies in Romania. To meet this objective, we have used the following research techniques: secondary data investigation, content analysis, and questionnaire-based research. The study is based on the most important methodologies of corporate reputation, of CRS and of corporate sustainability. The results of the study reflect the existence of a significant difference between the socially responsible organizational behaviour of local companies and that of multinational companies in Romania and they have allowed the identification of its main promoters and inhibitors. Another important result is the demonstration, based on high-impact economic theories, of the progressive self-determination relationship between the socially responsible organizational behaviour and the corporate reputation.

The purpose of this scientific approach is to identify the essential variables of organizational ... more The purpose of this scientific approach is to identify the essential variables of organizational behavior of those companies that adopt a strategy that integrates knowledge management and which develop an organizational culture based on the development of intellectual capital. Therefore purpose of the work is subordinated to the requirements of scientific knowledge development in the society, based on knowledge, and more recently, into the society based on creativity, which are imperatives of sustainable development even imposed by EU strategies: Lisbon and Europe 2020. To answer this approach we used as research techniques: the analysis of relevant literature in the field of intellectual capital, of knowledge management, of the measurement and assessment of intangible assets, on the one part, and, on the other part, we initiated an analysis of the main reports and also we initiated studies of international organizations such as: World Bank, World Economic Forum, Eurostat and UNCTAD statistics and publications, euro barometers and EU reports. The applicative research, which is subordinated to purpose of the work, is to develop a benchmarking on the variables that have resulted from theoretical research which are essential variables of organizational behavior knowledge intensive at the level of the European Union companies. Therefore, we used the statistical methods of analysis: descriptive statistics and correlations.

În societatea bazată pe cunoaştere şi în economia creativă spre care toate ţările membre UE aspir... more În societatea bazată pe cunoaştere şi în economia creativă spre care toate ţările membre UE aspiră, impulsionate fiind şi de reglementările Comisiei Europene prin Strategia Europa 2020, capitalul uman al unei naţiuni capătă valenţe noi, constituindu-se într-un redutabil avantaj comparativ pentru ţările care investesc în această direcţie. În acest context, scopul prezentului demers ştiinţific este de a propune un model de evaluare a capitalului uman al unei naţiuni, realizat într-o abordare nouă, prin utilizarea de variabile reprezentative. Utilizând modelul propus pot fi realizate benchmarking-uri la nivelul ţărilor lumii. În prezenta lucrare se prezintă un benchmarking la nivelul ţărilor membre UE. Un alt rezultat al cercetării îl constituie identificarea principalelor direcţii strategice în care ţările trebuie să intervină pentru remedierea situaţiilor care le afectează capitalul uman. Pentru a răspunde demersului lucrării, am utilizat ca tehnici de cercetare: investigarea datelor secundare şi analiza de conţinut a principalelor rapoarte şi studii ale organizaţiilor internaţionale cum ar fi: World Bank – Human Development Reports, World Economic Forum, statistici şi publicaţii Eurostat şi UNCTAD, eurobarometre şi rapoarte ale UE privind capitalul uman etc. Pentru analiza datelor s-au aplicat metode statistice de analiză, începând cu cele mai simple (statistici descriptive) şi ajungând la realizarea unor analize complexe.
The research developed in this paper is mainly aimed at the achievement of certain analyses on so... more The research developed in this paper is mainly aimed at the achievement of certain analyses on some key variables of intellectual capital in companies from EU countries and thus, implicitly, from Romania, as well as through the Pearson correlation matrix, intensity analysis of the relationships between the respective variables of the three dimensions related to the intellectual capital, namely the human capital, the structural and relational capital and the GDP/capita. The main research techniques used for the research were: investigation of secondary data and content analysis of the major reports of international organisations on intellectual capital, as well as statistical methods of analysis and interpretation of data, respectively descriptive statistics and correlations. The main results of the research consist in identifying the main directions that envisage the area of intellectual capital in which companies must act to diminish the negative effects of the economic crisis.
Cercetarea elaborată la nivelul prezentei lucrări are ca principal scop realizarea unor analize a... more Cercetarea elaborată la nivelul prezentei lucrări are ca principal scop realizarea unor analize asupra unor variabile reprezentative ale capitalului intelectual, la nivelul companiilor din țările UE, deci, implicit, și la nivelul României, precum și, prin intermediul matricei de corelație Pearson, analiza intensității legăturilor dintre respectivele variabile ale celor trei dimensiuni aferente capitalului intelectual, respectiv capitalul uman, capitalul relațional și capitalul structural și PIB/locuitor. Principalele tehnici de cercetare utilizate pentru realizarea cercetării au fost: investigarea datelor secundare și analiza de conținut a principalelor rapoarte ale organizațiilor internaționale cu privire la capitalul intelectual, precum și metode statistice de analiză și interpretare a datelor, respectiv statistici descriptive și corelații. Principalele rezultate ale cercetării constau în identificarea principalelor direcții, care anvizajează aria capitalului intelectual, în care companiile trebuie să intervină pentru a diminua efectele negative ale crizei economice.

In the context of sustainable development imposed even more by the current economic crisis, this ... more In the context of sustainable development imposed even more by the current economic crisis, this paper aims at a conceptual model of corporate reputation management based on a socially responsible organizational behaviour, a model tested through empirical research in companies in Romania. To meet this objective, we have used the following research techniques: secondary data investigation, content analysis, and questionnaire-based research. The study is based on the most important methodologies of corporate reputation, of CRS and of corporate sustainability. The results of the study reflect the existence of a significant difference between the socially responsible organizational behaviour of local companies and that of multinational companies in Romania and they have allowed the identification of its main promoters and inhibitors. Another important result is the demonstration, based on high-impact economic theories, of the progressive self-determination relationship between the socially responsible organizational behaviour and the corporate reputation.

The purpose of this scientific approach is to identify the essential variables of organizational ... more The purpose of this scientific approach is to identify the essential variables of organizational behavior of those companies that adopt a strategy that integrates knowledge management and which develop an organizational culture based on the development of intellectual capital. Therefore purpose of the work is subordinated to the requirements of scientific knowledge development in the society, based on knowledge, and more recently, into the society based on creativity, which are imperatives of sustainable development even imposed by EU strategies: Lisbon and Europe 2020. To answer this approach we used as research techniques: the analysis of relevant literature in the field of intellectual capital, of knowledge management, of the measurement and assessment of intangible assets, on the one part, and, on the other part, we initiated an analysis of the main reports and also we initiated studies of international organizations such as: World Bank, World Economic Forum, Eurostat and UNCTAD statistics and publications, euro barometers and EU reports. The applicative research, which is subordinated to purpose of the work, is to develop a benchmarking on the variables that have resulted from theoretical research which are essential variables of organizational behavior knowledge intensive at the level of the European Union companies. Therefore, we used the statistical methods of analysis: descriptive statistics and correlations.

The methodology aimed to produce an evaluation model for corporate environmental responsibility based on the following variables reported by companies: carbon dioxide emissions, water consumption, energy consumption, and amount of waste. Corporate reputation of sampled organizations was assessed based on content analysis of the 2010, 2011, and 2012 reports of the Reputation Institute. We applied the correlation of panel data and emphasised the fact that high levels of corporate environmental responsibility sustain high levels of corporate reputation.
The study highlights the theoretical considerations that support this relationship. As companies become increasingly accountable, the methodology described in our study can be developed in further research by using other variables to measure corporate environmental responsibility.

process of expatriates. This article explores how the recruitment and selection process of expatriates
is developed in Portuguese companies, examining the main criteria on recruitment and
selection of expatriates’ decision to send international assignments. The paper is based on
qualitative case studies of companies located in Portugal. The data were collected through
semi-structured interviews of 42 expatriates and 18 organisational representatives as well from
nine Portuguese companies. The findings show that the most important criteria are: (1) trust
from managers, (2) years in service, (3) previous technical and language competences, (4) organisational
knowledge and, (5) availability. Based on the findings, the article discusses in detail
the main theoretical and managerial implications. Suggestions for further research are also presented.
Building upon the premise that the prolongation of working life presents an adequate approach to
address the fast approaching challenges of population ageing, the paper presents labour market outcomes of
older workers in Slovenia in order to explore the role of social system and labour market flexibility in
retirement behaviour. By applying bivariate graphic analysis and series of logistic models, paper finds that
decisions of older workers (aged 50 - 69) of whether to retire or to continue working up to legal retirement
age is being predominately shaped by the pension system parameters. Economic activity beyond this age (or
when retired) on the other hand predominately correlates with flexible work arrangements and work
motivation. Thus, the future policies in Slovenia aiming to prolong working careers within formal or informal
sector should simultaneously do both; change pension system parameters and significantly expand the system
flexibility stimulating willing and capable elderly to continue working within the formal sector.

countries: Constantin Brancoveanu University of Pitesti – Management – Marketing in
Economic Affairs Faculty, Romania, Fernando Pessoa - Business Science Faculty, Portugal
and University Degli Studi di Milano – Political Sciences Faculty, Italy. For data
processing, comprehensive methods of analysis and statistic-mathematical methods have
been used, while for data analysis the method of comparing interviewed students’ opinions
and the causal explanation have been used. The paper’s originality consists in drafting a
direct, quantitative research, based on the scientific research of students’ opinions, future
opinion originators, in three countries with various development levels. In addition,
Romanian profile literature does not enlist many scientific papers approaching the analysed
topics, while international research papers exist, but only to a small extent. The main results
of research reveal the occurrence of dissimilarities and similarities relevant to students’
perceptions, regarding the approached subject.
